As I understand it, he actually did have quite a bit to do with getting the communication infrastructure that eventually was used by the internet built. So, he didn't exactly "invent" the internet, but he did help it along.

Nope, the communication infrastructure was around before Al Gore "claims" of building it. The only thing Al Gore did was vote for funding to expand the existing internet that was being used by military, universities, and scientists. Which any senator at that time could claim.

Despite popular thinking, the internet is not limited to United States. And that Al Gore claim is one of many many "lies" used to boost his ego...sorry political career.

You're right Al Gore never claimed it. However, his political team did "spin" the media to make it look like he did. Thus boosting his political career. I was not implying that Al Gore said such thing. I was referring to the whole mess as the "Al Gore claims of building the internet".

We all know that politicians can only destroy never create. Except red tape, they create alot of that.

But back to the headwraps story. I got to ask, what exactly is the OP talking about. The only headwraps I know of are what typically used by cancer folks covering their head. Is that what the OP talking about or is there a different style?

Ok, that lady was off her rocker. Complaining about not liking a stranger style of dressing. She might want to stay far away from any tourist places. Never step a foot in Florida. She might go blind with all the "offending" styles.

Sweatbands are made from terrycloth, go around the forehead, between the eyebrows and hairline, and are for keeping sweat from running into the eyes. Headwraps (sometimes called "Alice bands" in reference to Alice In Wonderland wearing one) are worn in the hair and used to hold back the hair. At least those are the headwraps I'm familiar with (and wear).

Bitch probably doesn't know the difference between a headband and a turban.... And no, this isn't to say that her attitude would've been justified if it was a turban.

One of my former coworkers (who is a "former" coworker because she was forced to quit...our manager at the time wouldn't give her the time off to go to her brother's wedding) is a Muslim girl, and as such, she wore a hijab to work.

I can't even quantify how much shit she put up with for it.

She's the sweetest person I've ever met, and if there's anyone who doesn't deserve to deal with antisocial bigots, its' her. One of our coworkers' husbands would routinely refer to her as 'crazy Muslim" (pronounced mooz-lim), as in "Yeah, I'm talking to you, you crazy Muslim!" His typical response to my shocked and outraged stares was "...what?"

She had one group of Muslim men tell her that she was a bad person and an unfaithful Muslim because she worked in a video store, peddling all manner of filth and violence. They were renting all manner of filth and violence (softcore pornography, apparantly), but oh well.

Long story short, religious reasons may not be the best thing to claim, given the unfortunate attitudes of a whole lot of people.
