I meant as far as the quality of the product they buy. For example, the $379 notebook that will barely run Vista and is just all-around shite. "Oh, I'm sure it'll be fine." they say...and then they're back in 3-6 months all pissed off because "THIS DOESN'T WORK! FIX IT!" "Did you have a service plan?" *cue flash back of NOT ONLY the computer dept employees but also front lanes associates offering the plan* "Er...uh...NOBODY TOLD ME ABOUT THAT!" *sigh*

that's what a manufacturers warantee is for. the 90 or 1 year thad comes with the product is enough to determine if it's faulty, and random problems after that you are better off pocketing all the money you would save on extended service plans and such into a "my stuff broke" fund to replace your own hardware.Quoth teelaz View PostMy husband and I bought a gateway and flat screen tv from BB and didn't buy the service plan, not because we were cheap but because we never had anything go wrong before. We got everything home hooked it up and you guessed it, the tv was acting up. We took it back and they looked at it and let us know what the problem was(the hook ups)I bought a service plan right then and there! Better safe then sorry. I would rather pay extra then be stuck with $1000's of dollars of expensive computer stuff that does not work.
if it's a really big ticket item that you cannot replace get it insured, insurance for electronic devices is really cheap and you can even get coverage for theft and other thing a service plan won't touch.DILLIGAF

I dunno. I bought a Comcrack laptop about...6 years ago...now. Boy was I glad I got the service plan! That thing was such a POS..it got sent back a good number of times. The service plan more than paid for itself! (Psst...never buy from Compaq! thankfully, I don't think they exist anymore...)
Service Plan, Insurance, Extended Warranty..whatever you want to call it...it's a damn good idea if you are going to invest in some expensive piece of electronics!I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

Compaq was purchased by HP a number of years ago, but the brand certainly does still exist. We sell Compaq laptops at my store.Quoth DesignFox View Post(Psst...never buy from Compaq! thankfully, I don't think they exist anymore...)"We guard the souls in heaven; we don't horse-trade them!"
