Ahhh, don't you just love it when a customers argument is crushed beyond all repair?

As usual, it all starts with a customer coming up to the bar. She was a chav, looked about sixteen and probably had about six kids. The conversation went exactly like his.

SC: *sounding like her mouth is filled with chewing gum* 'Eeeere, can I 'ave a pint 'a cider please love?
Me: OK, but can I see some I.D first please?
SC: Hahahahaha! You're so cute love! I've not been asked since I were about 'ifteen!
Me: Ok, so you don't have any?
SC: No, but I can go get me mam, she'll tell yer that am eighteen!
Me: I'm afraid I can't take anyones word for it.
SC: But am eighteen! I've told yer how old I am!
Me: Yes, but I need proof.
SC: Yer don't! Yer only need to know ma age! And I've told yet it!
Me: Sorry, I can't serve you.
SC: I 'AVE RIGHTS YER KNOW!
Me: So do I. The right to refuse service.
    SC: Yer, yer....yer a bastard!

    She scuttled off.

I should also point out, she had pigtails, was caked in makeup, and was sucking on a lollipop while this was going on.

Why does Lolita come to mind? Maybe the pigtails, make-up, and lollipop. I wouldn't have served her either. I also would have been on alert for a fake I.D. I think there should be an unwritten law saying if you're going to go somewhere where age matters, such as a bar, or casino, then you should at least act the appropriate age. Acting like a school kid isn't gonna get you a beer.
It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.

Where does it say anyone has a "right" to drink alcohol?

Pigtails are OK, but combined with caked-on makeup and lollipops, and then expecting to be served alcohol without ID?...um, I don't think so...

What if the person in question is 65 and looks it, pigtails, lollipops and makeup notwithstanding?

Very true, but I swear on my soul that nearly every day at work I see an old lady with gray hair in PIGTAILS.

I've seen many older women wearing pigtails. Sometimes, it's just easier to do work in pigtails, particularly if you have long hair.

I'm not 65, but I do have a grey streak that started when I was 18. I occasionally wear pigtails, usually twisted into messy buns. My hair is heavy, and putting it all into one ponytail becomes painful fairly quickly.
I tend to stay away from lollipops though.

Because some people are going to use make-up to look old you are *ALWAYS* legally better off asking for ID any way. And the question always get raised, no ID, how did they get there.

And the answer better not be that they drove there.
