Here are some gems I had to deal with this weekend
Ocean View Madness We had a woman call to reserve an ocean view room, we were booked up and told her that. She asked if you could at least see the ocean from the hotel, yes she could. However when she checked in she got irate, she insisted that we had said there was an ocean view from every room. For the first 45 minutes she was here she called and complained three times. When the manager offered her money back she said "Oh it's not really a problem we'll stay" Not really a problem after all that complaining?
It's Too Tiring Apparently cleaning a room I accidentally left a washcloth behind. Current guests notice it however they don't call to complain they left me a fricking note that read "If it's not too much trouble could you remove the dirty washcloth from the bathroom. That is if it's not too tiring for you." What kind of passive aggressive BS is that?
Listen Before You Speak We had a couple asking where the local abalone farm was. My manager is new to town and asked me. I said "I'm not sure where it is. But local market sells the abalones and would know where the farm is located." She says in a slow Sesame Street voice "No dear, I did not ask where to buy the abalones I wanna know where the farm is" It wasn't the fact that she misunderstood my answer, it was that condescending tone she used.
No Late Checkouts Family calls wanting a late checkout. No can do we tell her, it's booked for an early arrival and they need to be out by 11am. Ten minutes later the mom calls back "Can't we just stay until noon" What part of need to be out by 11 does she not get?
Breakfast Latecomers It's the girl who "just wanted a coffee" and then promptly plopped her butt down to yammer on her cell phone. The guy who threw a temper tantrum because we wouldn't brew up a fresh pot of coffee 2 hours after breakfast shut down. The guy who asked when breakfast ended and 20 minutes later tried to barge in family in tow. You are the reason why continental breakfasts suck. At least try to grasp the concept that breakfast ending at 10 am actually ends at 10am.
