We've got a new sherrif in town and he takes NO prisioners.
I'm busy, running around checking in vendors/running backstock/cleaning my area up/you name it. I go up front to get Mohair's key to get some formula out to work to the case and had no idea whas I was in for.
Turned out Mohair had caught a shoplifter w/a large black bag of goodies and a large box of diapers. She was trying to get past him and escape (she was behind the flip door behind CS desk) and was insisting that she had paid for the items (don't they all say that?)
Next thing I knew, she was trying to shove past him, but he told her again he was detaining her, then saw me and asked me to call 911. I called and told them we had a situation w/a shoplifter and she was getting rather rowdy and was attempting to assault my manager (she was by attempting to use her body to shove him)
Two minutes later, a police officer arrived on the scene. By this time, Mohair had her contained to the office. Opie came into work and was in the office w/her while Mohair and the CSM rang up the items at the CS desk to get an account of the retail value.
The lady had steaks galore (at least half a dozen single steaks) a large box of diapers and a couple of 5-pk disposable lighters. Total was around $80.00
Turned out a customer in line had spotted the shoplifter, as well as the cashier in who's lane the customer was in and they alerted management.
Had a happy ending: Mohair insisted on prosecuting. Shopifter got a free ride downtown to the County Arms and we had recovered our merchandise.
Moral of the story is: Don't steal from our store. You can and WILL be sent to jail.
I hope the word spreads. And I"m also sure that half the shoplifters we've got now Mohair would probably recognize from WD, as they have to travel farther to steal now. Heeheee

Good for you and Mohair for nailing that shoplifter! I agree, hope they all get the message and take their "business" elsewhere. Or change their evil ways (shyeah, like that'll ever happen!).
WELCOME
