"Tell me you do tea and coffee..."

During a quiet spell, I was cleaning and stocking behind the kiosk. A lady approaches the counter. She says loudly, "Tell me you do tea and coffee."

I turned and said, "Yes, we do tea or coffee."
She said, "It is absolutely freezing out there."
Now it is chilly, but not cold enough to snow or even to ice up my car.
I stepped up to my till and adopted my ready-to-help pose.
"Would you like a tea or coffee."
Lady: "Oh no, I was just kidding."

Me and co-workers:

[Chained to the counter]

Whaa? but, did she not just ask for? never mind, i've given up on trying to figure out the way they think

Ah, but just by verifying that you do indeed serve warm beverages, it warmed her to the very core, she wasn't actually interested in anything beyond that...

[Forensic Waitress]

My head hurts from trying to work out her logic. I think I'll go lie down now.

[Boozy]

"Would you like a tea or coffee."
Lady: "Oh no, I was just kidding."

I might have paused for a minute and then broken out into maniacal laughter....

"Bwahahahahaha! And what a fantastic joke that was. Hoo boy! Let me catch my breath here. Wow. Do you write this stuff down? Tell me you write this shit down!"
