Karaoke - The SCs That Sing...

Back when I lived in Seattle my now ex boyfriend had this obnoxious friend. He made the mistake of inviting her to the weekly karaoke night at the local sports bar. She would scream out the lyrics into the microphone and it sounded just wretched. However everyone was polite and never made fun of her.

She didn't have that same respect for other singers and would loudly ridicule them while they performed. Thank goodness the karaoke DJ grew tired of her and had the bar throw her out.

As for being the DJ's girlfriend, I may not have the cleavage...and I don't have a ring yet...but there is one reason why the "Hey Mr. DJ" girls don't bother me. They can try all their cheap tricks, but I'm still the one going home with the hot DJ after the party!

I have never been to a karaoke night for two very good reasons. One, I am only 18 and so cannot get in bars, and two, I have one of the WORST singing voices ever given to a human being. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy singing, and I even bought several of the singstar CDs for my PS2, but I would never even attempt to sing in front of a crowd. If I did I would likely be arrested for "crimes against humanity".

I feel the same way about my voice. i don't have the sing star games myself but i have friends with them and they are always trying to get me to sing, I told them that if I do sing I will probably melt the microphone and completely distroy the PS2, and since I doubt they want that broken I am going to pass

I have a decent singing voice (this Christmas a complete stranger call it beautiful) but no friends to go karaoking with. The last time I went, I was still in college and the place I was vacationing at had a karaoke night. The funniest part that night was watching my younger cousin doing his best Sinatra impression while singing "Puff the magic dragon" and representing the girls with "Man I feel like a woman" I did "The Rose" and "The went down to Georgia" back to back (my family says this is proof I have spilt personalities). Later that week I was accosted at the ice machine and asked to sing by some "fans".

See, that's what I like about karaoke. You don't have to be able to sing well - hell, we don't care if you suck. As long as you're having a good time and being respectful of others, it's all good.

Granted, if you sound like a rabid woodchuck in heat, I'm gonna have a hell of a time keeping the smile on.

I've been going to karaoke shows for almost 14 years now. Every once in awhile, some drunk guy will get up on stage and want to sing the song with me. I prefer to sing alone, unless it's a duet, in which case I'll already have someone up with me, but I usually don't make a big deal of it. But this one time, some guy apparently thought he could sing it better than me and tried to take the microphone from me, and then he got all pissy when I wouldn't give it up.

While it does make me a bit uneasy when someone gets up on stage with me, for some reason I didn't get upset the one time when this hot woman came up and started groping me, and then flashed me.

Made me screw up my song, though.

I love going to kareoke; in my village, it's taken very seriously and anyone who can't sing wouldn't be tolerated. XD So, I know I have a good voice. I also like the book, which has a fair amount of different genres in it so I can always pick songs I know.

Last kareoke night, the last song was mine. I was singing Freebird, and everyone else was singing it along with me. Classic.

Kareoke SCs:

Girl who sang "My Heart Will Go On" extremely badly; going offkey in an agonising way at every high note.

Girl who whined cuz there were no Britney songs in the book.

Guy who heckled two people and got thrown out on his butt.

Guy who started heckling me while I was singing "Paranoid", shouting "Black Sabbath suck!" However, he only managed to shout it two and a half times before a mate of mine grabbed him and clamped his hand over idiot heckler's mouth. XD Idiot heckler told to leave and never come back; my song was restarted.

Woman who kept hassling the DJ to play her songs... after she'd already said that she didn't have time for any more submissions and would just play what was there. This woman tried to hand the DJ the slips after the DJ had said this, not just once but twice.

Honestly, I really enjoy singing, but I've only had the balls to get up and sing...twice, maybe? Yeah, I own Karaoke Revolution, but as I've mentioned before, I don't regularly go to bars/clubs anymore. Even when I did, I often wouldn't get up and do it until I'd had a few good drinks and by that point, I had no real breath control. Plus, the only song I remember attempting was Nickelback's "How You Remind Me." Meh. More of a tenor than a baritone anyway.
