A kiddie porn guy came in last week. and wanted me to order a book for him from Germany. The book was "Zeit Mal" While it was intended as sexual education for children, the pictures are too frank for most people and of little educational value, Consequently the only people who buy it are pervs and a few boho parents, mostly pervs.
The guy who wanted me to order the one from Germany bought our english translation (out of print since the 70's). We don't order books for people. Far too often they would change their minds or the person we bought it from would describe it poorly or dishonestly, and we would be using the same on-line services that anyone can use. I told him this.
I felt like I slipped into the world of underground of kiddie porn traders. This guy immediately offered to add U$100.00 to our usual mark-up. I offered to help him through the on-lline ordering process and he refused, claiming that he didn't have a credit card. I offered to take his phone number so that I could ask the boss and let him know. He claimed that he didn't have a phone. C'mon this guy just dropped $350.00 on a book.
I'm pretty sure that he didn't want a paper trail alerting some authority that he bought the book. Of course the boss said no.
He is probably coming in this week to get the answer. I'm not looking forward to it. Especially since I'm coming down with malaria, ebola, beri beri, the black death and jungle fever at the same time.
