I was lucky enough not to deal with such folks who had their car impounded. The only way I went to an impound lot was to pick up a vehicle that was towed there by another company.

Ah, the impound lot. Shortly after my grandmother sold her house...her new apartment was right near the county's impound lot. Several of those cars were in there for well over a year, and yes, most of them were total shitboxes.

Locally though, it seems that every trailer park or rural house has some form of 1980s Camaro or Mustang nearby...usually up on blocks, or "being worked on" in a barn
