Why!? Why did I do that?

Just a short one I was reminded of.

SC: Where are *items*?
Me: *Somewhere*
SC: Thanks.

She goes off, and I feel good because an exchange with a customer went well. (Which seems to be the exception, not the norm.)
I see her about twenty minutes later or so, and I think, "Hey, I'll follow up and make sure she got what she wanted." Why I did that, I don't know. It was pretty unusual for me. However, she didn't look angry or anything, so I chanced it.

Me: Did you find the *items* alright?
SC: NO I DIDN'T! I looked where you said they'd be, but they weren't there!
Me: Maybe you could have asked for more help? - Uhh... ok, I can take you to them if you wa-
SC: NO! I'm leaving! I can't find anything in this stupid store!

SC leaves.

Well, I'm not sure why you did it, but personally I would be happy you did. I have this thing with asking several times for help (usually because I should be able to follow directions the first time and if I can't I'm the moron. LOL)
You know what they say though, no good deed goes unpunished.

I guess you won't be doing that again! But seriously, overreact much? Hopefully she never comes back since she can't find anything in your store anyway. Then you'll never have to see her again.
