a dead fruit bat (ETA: we tried to get the not-KFC people to put it in the deep fryer, but they cited some arcane law about public health)
    Would it taste fruity?

That these people never even INQUIRED about these lost items astounds me.
Hell, I've called people and told them that their USB/Student ID/Drivers License is in Room *** of ****** Hall, and still had them not show up.

One time i was cleaning out a fitting room and came across a bra. One that had clearly been worn and then discarded. What makes it even worse is, it was a Victoria's Secret bra.

For what you pay for those things who in their right minds leaves one behind in a fitting room?

one thing I miss about working at a law school library was the dozens of Mont Blanc pens we found every semester. Just goes to prove, An ounce of pretention is worth a pound of freebies. lol!!!

I was traveling to Louisiana with my family a few years ago when we stopped at a roadside diner for a quick bite.

I had a removable retainer at that time, took it out to eat, and left without even realizing it. Until one of the waitresses rushes out with my rainbow colored retainer pinched daintily between her thumb and forefinger. My parents thanked her profusely while I died from embarrassment. I suppose she was pretty embarrassed too, though. Bringing out a customer's forgotten retainer? That's real customer service. I hope my parents had left an extra big tip.

I really hated that stupid thing. So glad I'm done with orthodontia.
Ah, tally-ho, yippety-dip, and zing zang spillip! Looking forward to bullying off for the final chukka?

Easy, she traded it in for a new one. Come in with bra, leave with bra. No loss.

I haaaaate it when people do that. Bras and shoes usually, though I've had people try to stick our tags on other brands of merchandise to return it. Or buy a multi-pack of undergarments, keep one or two, and return the rest.

Some of the puzzling items we get left behind are glasses, ones that they went into the changing room wearing and presumably their sight is altered without.
I've had one lady who had to be escorted back by her daughter to collect her glasses, because she couldn't see much of what was going on without them.
Please excuse me , I need to wander round the corner to scream now, before my head explodes.

Three walking sticks within a period of eighteen months. It made us wonder how much the people leaving them needed them.

Things I have found while waitressing:

Dentures (full set, wrapped in a napkin, she did come back)
                    glasses
a joint (soon claimed by a coworker, even though the jerk came back to look for it)
                    cell phones
unscratched lottery tickets (not a tip, fell in side of a booth, won $10)
                    bottles/bibs
                    credit cards
                    random jewelry
and of course, porn. Yes, a DVD. I don't know whatever happened to it, I think my boss took it home.

Who's gonna trade a VS bra in for one from Macy's? I work there and don't even buy bras there.

Don't look at me, I don't know how a SC's logic makes sense of this.

Um, yeah - I think THIS little gem is worthy of some further details. What did he say when he came back looking for it?

See I could do (and have done) that because my eyes are weird. One short sighted, one long sighted, and as long as I'm not over-tired or driving I can see well enough to do most things (I'm not wearing my glasses now in fact).

I cannot fathom people leaving their cards. I know we here are generally honest people, but most aren't. We actually had one girl at Toxic Hell go to jail for taking a customer's card on a shopping spree . Might as well take all your money out of the bank and leave it on a table. Sheesh.

I once found the head of an action figure. Just the head. It was ... disturbing.

I left my Debit card in the ATM not 6 hours before I had to leave to go to an Anime Convention. I checked my wallet to make sure I had everything and couldn't find it. Finally called the Grocer I had visited right before (to get granola bars for my trip) and they said they found it. I picked it up and was only an hour late getting to my hotel room (a 10 hour drive. Not doing that again for a while, yikes).
