Actually on this subject, I have a little boneheaded moment of my own here; the start date for my summer school course happens to be when my family has booked a vacation to hawaii Do you noble, honorable souls think that an explanatory email to the professor would settle the situation?

Double check with your school's policy. The prefered method of getting into a full class at mine was to show up the first day and take the spot of someone who was registered and no showed. Sounds mean and sucky I know, but I got into one class because a girl was still in Cancun on vacation.
