No, Mister or Misses EW, if it's on another site we're not going to honor it.
Had a conversation with this lady today about a price for a camera and it went something like this:
Me: Thank you for calling <company>, this is LambChop. How may I help you today?
EW: Yes, I was interested in buying this camera here and I saw that on your site it's priced at $649? But when I look on the internet, I see it's supposed to be on sale for $599? I think something's wrong with your site so I wanted to call and order it for that price.
Me: Okay well web errors do happen sometimes so let me check into that for you. Where did you see the $599 price?
EW: <something equivalent to pricegrabber.com>
Me: Ah, well I do apologize maam but unfortunately since that price is on a third-party website, we don't have control over what they post on it. So unfortunately, I won't be able honor that price.
EW: *scoffs* That's rediculous, it says right here it's $599 at your stores so I want that price.
Me: That's just the thing, maam, it's not our price. It was posted on <third party company's> websit and according to our website, it's currently at $649. As such, we won't honor another company's price just because they say it's our price.
EW: I don't care! I'm going by what it says right here in black and white and it says $599.
Me: Well I'm seeing in black and white that our current price is $$649.
EW: Well I want it for $599!
Me: We all want lots of things, maam, but that doesn't mean we can always get them. Regardless of what their site says, I can't sell this camera for less than $649.
EW: Well that's not good enough! I wanna speak to your supervisor!
Me: Maam, I'll happily get a supervisor for you if one's available but I'll tell you now that he's going to tell you the same thing.
EW: Oh no he won't! He's going to sell it to me for the $599 price because that's good customer service, unlike what you're giving to me!
Me: Very well, maam. If that's how you feel I'll get you to a supervisor.
Bottom line? Supervisor, of course, said no. The EW didn't like this (I could tell because I could hear her cursing at my sup while I was sitting next to him) and apparently threatened to sue because of "false advertising." At which point my Sup informed that since all calls are recorded and she has threatened us with legal action, he is now required to forward her to our legal team and before she could even object, he transferred her.
Afterwards, he gave me that look that said "WTF was her problem?" I just shrugged and told him it was another 'Fisher,' fishing for discounts. I really hate Fishers.
So the moral of this story is that if Company X says Company Y is selling a product for a lower cost than what Company Y advertised it for, most likely it's wrong. And trying to get them to match what Company X is saying, you'd have better luck trying to artificially inseminate a brick.
Dumbasses.
