  • but she quoted me a different rate

Guest: this is not the rate quoted to me by Donna, the Island concierge

Me: but Donna doesnt work for us

Guest: I know but she quoted me a much lower rate.....can you honor the rate she quoted me?

Me: No sir, she doesnt work for us

Guest: well I know that but I feel misled here

    Me: We didnt mislead you

Guest: well if she quoted me that rate and you dont honor it then it's bait and switch

Me: if she worked here, I would agree with you but I cant give you a lower rate based on what someone outside the company told you

Guest: well I think thats pretty pissy of you

Me: I'm sorry you feel that way sir

    Guest: yea whatever........asswipe (click)

Well, at least he hung up, rather than calling on your jellyfish of a manager.

His manager isn't there anymore. I hid him in Ann's ass. He won't be coming out anytime soon.

Well, I tried to brighten your day, didn't I?

oh... I feel your pain VRS... I get that too sometimes... hotels do keep track of other hotels rates and occupancy (2 reasons, first to make sure our rates are where they should be, second so if we have to walk a guest we have a general idea of what other places have)... at least once a week I'll get someone "but so and so at (insert other hotel) said you had a rate of (number lower than what I have)"... yeah, for standard rooms, but guess what hun, we are at 90% occupancy and the 10% that are available still are my upgraded rooms... so guess what, you pay the upgrade price or you piss off (in fairness though depending on how late it is I'll do a discounted upgrade, but I'm still not doing a free upgrade).

            From Wikipedia.

In retail sales, a bait and switch is a form of fraud in which the party putting forth the fraud lures in customers by advertising a product or service at an unprofitably low price, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available but that a substitute is.

So where's the bait and switch in this case?

Sounds like another jackass who doesn't understand the meaning of the terminology he's trying to use against you.

"I'm sorry you feel that way, sir. If you'd like there are several consumer protection agencies you could report this to."
            I don't like your attitude!
