Alright, as some, not many probably, of you know, I'm staff for Nan Desu Kan here in Denver, it was just last weekend. I'm mainly stationed at Prop Check, so I get to do fun stuff as far as the Dealer's Room department is concerned.
My biggest pet peeve is when you come to pick up your prop as you leave DR, I'll ask what I'm looking for, just to make things a tad easier. I really, really love it when you say "Sword." It makes it even better when I ask which one, and you point to the table stacked 6 inches high of swords and say, "It's over there." Icing on the cake when I ask for a description and you give the length and color and mention it's wood (A really common sword was Ichigo's bankai from Bleach, so often I'd get "It's black"). I wish to kill these people, yes I know we give you cards so we know which prop is yours, but when I'm surrounded by swords, staves, and bows, along with whatever else there may be, I like to know what I'm looking for.
To the person who left a mug full of coffee, I just would like to say, "Wha?" We were busy and you didn't wait for us to finish and give you a card, so it just sort of appeared there. You weren't in costume, otherwise I'd know exactly who you were, and you waited until we were busy again to come and get it back, so it just sort of disappeared. Is it too much to ask to wait until we're ready for you, it's not a problem for anyone else.
Ok, this is the second year in a row that a key card for the hotel has been left with us, seriously, why do we need your key card, don't you need it more?
People I realize that Friday, as soon as we open DR, you want in so you can shop, but must all of you have that day as Big Prop Day? Seriously guys, we got almost every single big prop all at once as soon as DR opened, wait a bit for that costume, we like to be able move so that your prop is returned undamaged.
How is it that so many people can't grasp the concept of "DEALER'S ROOM IS CLOSED!!!"? Especially when we've been shouting it for the past hour and a half...
And finally, to the person who picked up a Serial Experiments Lain DVD set (no box) near prop check, I'd like it back. I got a good deal on it, and while you got a better one, my money paid for it, not yours, please give it back. If you're nice about it, I won't use your soul as a bargaining chip for next year.
