  • Why should I be responsible for my car? - and other stories

    Hey gangsters.

I haven't been here for a while, but I thought I'd just drop back and take a look - and give my versions of silly ppl.

Why should I be responsible for my car?

Guy rings up looking to pay for toll usage, but can't, because he's lent his limo to another driver for the past few months, and the other driver has been forking out for passes way over the maximum limit allowed. He now wants to know why he's the one who gets 'punished' for not knowing what the other person has done... with his car.

Does anyone else see the problem with his logic??

No - not the one's who can't get a girlfriend (like yours truly), but the ones who can't see the difference between 3 days and 6 days (I know - everyone makes that mistake ... so confusing, those calender things). Basically, you've got 3 days to pay for something... guy rings up after 6 days, and wonders why he can't do it. But don't worry - we can always make up a story to tell you, so that 6 days can become 5 days, and that will make all the difference...

"But I just forgot, and only remembered now..." yeah - good one - now pay your bill.

Company changes policy - I get to bitch

Don't you just love it when a company changes it's policies, terms, conditions etc, and if people don't like it, all they have to do is bitch about it, and they can get their own way. No?? Neither do I! I just had that one while I was typing up here. "But you haven't informed me of that, so I'm not going to go with it. What's your name and number, I'll ring back and speak to a supervisor". yeah... I'm going to care... why?

I'm irresponsible - so I shouldn't have to pay your expenses

I'm sure we've all had this crap. Lady rings up with a bill with admin fees on it. It's been posted to her PO box, but doesn't bother to check the box for 3 weeks (well - it'd be more, actually). Because of that, her first invoice is overdue, and a 'late payment fee' gets applied. Guess who's supposed to waive it... Oh, that's after checking the account to see why she got the bill in the first place... why? Because the account was suspended.

You know what makes this one more fun??

The interactions left on her account telling her the account was suspended, and she didn't fix it up for.... 2 friggin months! Again, guess who's supposed to waive admin fees?? Hahahaha..... Yeah - you got the right person on that call ....

    It's all your fault

    Well - isn't it always??

Call starts out sane enough... til it gets to the important bit, of course.

Guy has copped a bill for travelling without paying. Oh, he had an account, and the vehicle should have been on it.

Ummm.... you requested account closure about 5 months ago, and thus the vehicle was removed... now you want me to believe that, after you sold your vehicle, you took it back, and thus rang in to add the vehicle to this account you wanted closed???

Uh-huh! Sure.... Just because there's no mention of any calls in those few months you're talking about......

What's the kicker?? He turns to a friend in the background (yes, on the phone...) and calls me an idiot - right into the mouthpiece. I point out that I don't appreciate being called an idiot, so he tells me he wasn't talking to me, and tells me to fuck off. <click>

2 minutes later, he rings back, gets another agent to go through the (as per usual, ever changing story), swears at her, and hangs up (he did it this time).

Apparently, rings back the next day, twice, and of course, swears and abuses the agents, gets <click>

Don't ya just love call centre work???

Ok, I admit - I'm having one of those nights... well, weeks actually. Normally, I don't get too much crap, but it seems the universe has been saving them up.

Ok - not overly horrendous (but I haven't too much crap for a while - you know, most calls take up to 3 minutes or less - these take 10, 20, 45....

    And lastly...

Ringing up means actually being on the other end of the phone!

I had a Relay Service call. They're for the hearing impaired. They (the customer) is on the net, sends messages through to a central relay agency, who does the actual talking to us. Usually takes longer than normal, is a bit annoying (three-way conversations...), but isn't too much of a problem... unless they happen to be idiots, or.....

surfing the net or chatting on another chat program during the 'call'. Yep, that's right, you know how when you're in chat, and you have other net applications going on and you switch between them, it doesn't usually pop up to tell you the message straight away... you've actually got to be on the chat program to read the chat?? Strange concept, hey?? And, unfortunately, with whatever program they use, if they don't have it open all the time, the message may not get through... which explains why sometimes it had to be resent... 3 friggin times! I know they take longer than usual, but over an hour???? Crap!

Oh - also, when you are using something that costs money, don't go all whingey and whiney because... ta dah... it costs you money! You know, you don't have to use that service, if you don't like the price!

So, word of advice, if you're going to make a call to someone, try staying on the phone to get the conversation!!!

Hmm - I think I'm all ranted out... other than where I work.... Might have to go to MiM now

heh, welcome back slyt! Glad to see that the irony gods have turned their glare on someone other than myself

It boggles the mind how irresponsible some people are...that'd be that infamous noncommon sense, I assume?

I get really tired of these type of SCs. In the work I'm doing now we get people who are late, late stage collection-type so they've already not been paying for months. Some of them qualify for some type of payment plan that's less than their original bill, like perhaps interest is waived or late fees and penalties are waived or both. So they agree to that, then don't even keep up with the plan. After that they're given a 30 day "grace period" to pay the full amount. So I see alot of conversations like this:

SC: yeah, I tried to pay today but they wouldn't let me.

CSR: Well, I see that you tried to pay 2 days after your grace period expired. It's too late now to make payments, this account is going to be closed.

SC: What?! but it's only 2 days!

CSR: Yes, but you were given 30 days. The 30 days were up 2 days ago. This is not negotiable.

SC: Well, can I have a payment plan then?

CSR: I see also in the notes that you already had a plan and were unable to keep up with it. Sorry, but we can't give you another payment plan either as you failed to keep your promise on the old one.

SC: You'll be hearing from my lawyers!!!

CSR: You should already have heard from ours
