I've told the stories of craziness. The guy who was asleep in the men's bathroom, with two empty beer bottles, a butchers knife, and his dick out. The guy who was watching porn, called me a bitch when I told him he can't watch porn and said he was watching TPotC. And management let him stay with a warning. And other stories.
Well finally actual cops are going to be at the library! Sat. a cop car drove into the plaza and a cop got out and talked to the homeless people who camp out on the plaza. She told them that there was a serial killer stalking homeless at the library so for their safety maybe they should go somewhere else. I talked to her on Mon. and when I told her the porn story and she said there would be no warning with her, they will take a trip in the cop car! OMG! Someone who will actually protect us librarians and public!
I remember how we had some social worker come in one day and told us we have to be firm with the rules with the homeless (and everyone else, really) but management is always giving second chances. The cop said she talked to the woman in charge about not giving second chances.
It's not just the homeless. There are too many people who camp out here all day and people coming in to do research or homework have to get her early to get a seat (and actually beat the other people needing to do research; really, the all-dayers insure no one can have access to the computers whenever they need them) and the management lets them get away with it. And they bring food and drink and even though it's against the rules, the management want us to ignore it. I am so waiting for the cops to set these all dayers on their heels.
