  • she doesn't know the phone is stolen yet

Trying to get back into where I can be in here more and post/read.
Any ways a couple of days ago I had a customer call in about her billing. Her daughters phone had high usage. From what the mother said is that she is in college, put the phone up after getting a prepaid service, and hasn't used it in a month.
She started going off that her daughter is a 4.8 grade student who would not do anything like run up a high bill and when I suggested she let someone else use the phone she started going off that she was more responsible then that. As well as such a good student she wouldn't think of it.
The phone had been turned off because of being past due and she wanted us to credit the overage and turn the phone back on after I told her it was off. She said her daughter didn't cause the high usage, in fact it was stolen a month ago. When I asked why they didn't report it she goes your not listening it was stolen and she didn't know it. I was just trying to call her to tell her the phone was stolen.
Sure, the phone was stolen and she had no idea. Could it be your daughter is calling people or didn't want to tell you. Or maybe those magical elves stole your daughters phone, because they are real, just like a 4.8 grade average.
It ended up with her getting mad because I would not credit and couldn't do anything until the phone was turned back on.
I like to scare small childeren, it's fun and as long as you can out run the parents you can get away with it.

    I didn't think there was such a thing as a 4.8 grade average . . .

I think the Mom stinks and she don't smell like flowers . . .

With honors credits factored in, the maximum possible GPA one can achieve is a 6.0. I think.

Hey, if it's possible for me to get 105% on a test without answering extra credit, or even all the required questions...

So it's not the daughter's responsibility to tell mommy the phone is stolen? So it's not mommy's or baby's fault? Mommy keeps on changing the story, though. I hate mommy. Ditzy idiot thinking your iq is lower then 4.8.

Sooo, she was saying: "The phone was stolen a month ago. I demand you credit me and turn it back on!" Yeah, I'll get right on that

if she lives in california, yup I hate to say it but the mobile company may need to turn the phone back on and credit the charges.

Anywhere else in the USA, she pays for the charges right up untill the day the phone was suspended...

Yes california acctulay has some anti personal responcability regulations. The only good thing about that is they pay the state goverment through the nose via taxes so they do not have to do things like read bills, report phones stolen in a timely mannor, return unwaned ot defective phone purchases in a timely manner, and any number of extra little things.

                fun times

So....even though they are no longer in possession of the phone (if it was stolen), she wants it turned back on?? Why? So the thief can continue spending her money? She must think you're an idiot if she expects to get away with that whopper.

Okay even if she is an honors student it doesn't mean she has common sense. Some of the honor students at my high school did not have much in the way of common sense. Also, i don't get why, if the phone was stolen, either the mother or daughter did not acll the phone company to report the theft. Methinks daughter is using the cell more at college than she did at home.

I have never heard of honor credits. An A is an A is an A, 4.0 was the highest GPA you could get when I was in college.

I was P'Oed my sophmore year because I got a B in a class and blew my average, once its gone there isn't any way to get it back, unless you re-take the class.

I think the lady was blowing smoke. She should have been honest with the rep, told her she didn't realize her daughter was using so many minutes and tried to see if they could up her plan. Most companies and reps are willing to work out something reasonable, if you are.

we give up to 72 hours after the phone was reported stolen to issue credits. I was more then willing to give her a credit if she changed the rate plan so we could get her bill lowered. She didn't want to do this and kept going off that it was stolen. Sounded too messed up and a month later? That is major bull---. We don't go by state, everyone falls under policy. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

Back when I was in school, the highest GPA was indeed 4.0. But now they do give extra points for honors classes - so an A in an honors class is actually worth 5 grade points, not 4. So a 4.8 is possible. Not likely, just possible.

But a more valid point has been brought up -- if the phone was stolen, why turn it back on? So they can keep paying for the theif's usage? I would say turn it back on, see who answers, and if it is the daughter, explain to her that "all is known." And THEN turn it back off until payment is received.
