  • I know who you are I just don't care

I worked in a restaurant in the bar a few years ago. We had a celebrity in one night with his parents who still live in the area. Now I'm not a fan of this man, never have been but there are those who are...fair enough.

He comes up to the bar, orders his drinks which I dispatch with haste, take his money and give him change with a thank you. So he stands there for a few seconds looking at me kinda puzzled. Okaayy. Look at the tray of drinks..ask if I've forgotten to give him something. No. Looks at me a little more (he's actually freaking me out a little) Sir, says me, is there anything else I can help you with.

He replies, and I quote "Aren't you going to ask me for my autograph?"

me: Umm, No but thank you for your kind offer
him: I'm (insert name) I'm famous you know
me: I know who you are sir
    him: Oh

He wasn't aggressive or anything but I spent the rest of the night wishing I had said No, but would you like mine? I'm legendary in the bar trade!

Yeah I probably would have said a tip means more to me than an autograph.

But I bet he charges for autographs, that could be why he's pushing it.

        Geez. Much ego there?

If you have to remind people of who you are, you aren't.

You couldn't even name-drop the individual? Booooo.

That's funny! It seems not every living being on the face of the planet is his fan! Did he seriously say, "I'm famous, you know" . . .? Honestly, if you have to say that to someone . . . to remind them almost . . . is kinda sad.

That's almost as bad as "don't you know who I am?"

Um.. anyone think that maybe he was used to always being asked for an autograph and just assumed she would want one, so told her?

Sure. But we all know what happens when you assume!

I'm sorry I'm far too discreet to name drop..... you probably wouldn't have heard of him anyway, I don't think he's made it across the pond.

As far as when he visits his home town...it really is a case of "Oh look, there's that tosser that's on the telly" See a lot people know his family and know that even before he became an actor they were all totally up their own bottoms....
