It's not really that management doesn't allow us to pass these people off to somebody else. It's that the corporate culture, as determined by the suits, discourages it.

That sounds like a corporate idea.

Suit 1: Let's make sure every customer feels like the ONLY customer.

Suit 2: Great idea, Bob! Let's make it happen.

Voice of reason: Um, guys. What if two customers need the same employee in two different places?

Suit 2: That won't happen.

Voice of reason: Well, I'm looking at the numbers. Customers outnumber employees by 20 to 1. Unless we either lose customers or hire more employees, it's not going to work out the way you think it should.

Suit 1: You know what? You're not a team player. I believe we can Make This Happen. You need to think outside the box more.

Voice of reason: By "box" do you mean "reality?"

Suit 2: What are you talking about?

Voice of reason: Never mind. That's a totally *great* idea.
