I would have been too stunned to laugh. But that is exactly what that boy needed. A good solid embarrassment to emotionally impact him enough to teach him a real lesson.Interesting Fodder: http://interestingfodder.typepad.com

It depends on where you live. In the South, its perfectly acceptable for an adult to call his or her parents "mama" and "daddy".Quoth BookstoreEscapee View PostIf you refer to your parents as Mommy and Daddy perhaps you are not old enough to be out in public without supervision...

The truly sad part is that there's probably a reason the kid feels that way.
Think about it. Threatening to call his MOM down to yell at you, that doesn't just happen overnight.
If I had ten bucks, I'd bet it all that the mom is one of those sucky "my kid does no wrong" type of parents, and has probably been in this situation with her kid before.
Seriously, my kids would *know* that they'd get their asses kicked (by me) if they ever dared to utter such nonsense, especially in public.

Big Daddy to be preciseQuoth PepperElf View PostYeah, I was thinking of Blanch from Golden Girls. She always referred to her father as Daddy.
(Says a man who ends up watching Golden Girls most evenings as he gets home while "Daytime" TV is still on.)
It's never occurred to me to bring my parents into an argument while I've been an adult. Even as a kid I learned to rely on myself as Dad wouldn't stick up for me if someone had set me on fire, and Mom would end up blaming me, or telling me I'd get in more trouble or get banned.
My mother/grandmother once tried to convince me I shouldn't complain about a college adviser who called me stupid because they were afraid the college would ban me from taking classes there.Last edited by draftermatt; 04-15-2009, 07:21 PM.

Wow that is hilarious.
....Does anyone know where I can get supervision for while I'm in public?Quoth BookstoreEscapee View PostIf you refer to your parents as Mommy and Daddy perhaps you are not old enough to be out in public without supervision...
Yes, I refer to my father as Daddy. Mostly it's Dad, but I do call him Daddy. I'm his little angel.
Which reminds me of an SC story from the grocery store. They had decided I was being rude or slow or something. They were getting a little irate and were yelling IT was two years ago, a girl forgets.
SC= Ms. Kiba do not forget that I know your father, and I can tell him about this incident.
Me= You want to tell Daddy about this?
SC=...yes?
Me= About how you yelled at his little girl when she was a work?
SC=....um
Me= My father? We are both talking about {insert Dad's name}
SC= Is it true about what he did to the principal of the high school?
Me=
Did you want to pay by debit, cash, or credit?
My dad is really protective of my brother and I. He will make us atone for being bad, and did get really upset with me the time I got fired. However, he will not take people pushing us around. He will march right up and take care of it.
I would never use him as a threat. But if people threatened me with my dad, I just remind them who's side he's on.Hinakiba777- Student of Divinity-Always trying to get laid.

I love you. That brought tears to my eyes. We need a laughing smiley that has tears.
BTW I still call my mom, mommy once in a while, especially during our very few special moments, so she knows that I'm still somewhat her girl. I will always call my dad daddy. He's from the South and that was just a normal thing in my family."Kill the fat guy first?! That's racist!" - my friend Ironside at a Belegarth practice after being "killed" first.

I have only ever threatened to call my mom to my brothers and sister. It's kinda fun telling your brother "I'm gonna tell mom on you" after the age of 10 (we're in our 30's). but having some teenager who's acting like a jerk threaten you with it. Sad. It would make my 6 yr old call him a wuss."Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with your software."
