Ya know, reflecting on my thread I just made about my coworkers and their personal issues, especially Mo......
There are people out there who just simply won't listen to anyone else's answer, even if the other person is correct and they are dead wrong. Even if the other person is in charge or has more knowledge of the subject, some people absolutely refuse to listen....and they continue to beat the dead horse and keep fighting the useless fight.

Now you're kinda making me wish I'd thought to kidnap one of the neighbor's chihuahuas and try that as a kid.

Only if it sinks up to the axles. And calling those things hummers do a disservice to the real thing. Calling those hummers is like calling a chihuahua a sled dog.Quoth BookstoreEscapee View PostDoes parking your Hummer on the grass in your front yard count as "offroad"?

Its actually somewhat common for people to call looking for a fight. I do tech support myself, and I can't tell you how many people simply refuse to be helped. Even if I agree with them completely, they're too busy fighting with me to let me actually help them.Quoth Polenicus View Post
It seems these people are calling looking for an excuse to get upset, or already stressed and upsety and looking for someone to take it out on, and just happened to have picked Dave.
I just don't get it. A simple issue is turned into a 45 minute ordeal because the person is just too stupid to realize that I'm trying to solve their problem!
My average day is like Gravekeeper's posts, except with more yelling.

i remember one of VSR's earlier stories where he couldn't give specifics without dates... and the customer bitched and whined...
a couple people here suggested working with the customer anyway.
this just proves that ... even if Dave *does* do that, these customers STILL bitch and whine.
there IS no pleasing them

She sounds like a customer I had the other day. I work at a soup/sandwich/light bakery and this germaphobe woman ordered some muffins. First she got mas because I opened the flat brown paper bag by putting my hand in it slightly (gasp!) so she said 'let me do it!' (We're not suppose to make customers do anything more than pay us and take their stuff away, but I let her open her own bag.) Then she rudely says I was supposed to be wearing gloves for grabbing the muffins (No, bitch, that's what wax paper is for.) Then she said she wanted the two 'on the end.'Quoth vacation_rentals_suck View Post
Guest: you havent even gathered enough information from me to recommend a property, you are supposed to ask how many children I have and there ages so you can determine the appropriate bedding and you havent even asked what I look for in terms of decor....(and she went on lecturing me about the questions I am supposed to be asking her)...
Me: "You said you wanted the two on the end, which end did you mean?" (Ginuinely polite, if people want to be picky, I've been picky too. No big deal.)
SC: *sigh, catbut face* Never mind.

You can't please some people.

The Challenger may not be family friendly but it's so awesome. I do keep the family's safety in mind but "family" vehicles are blah. I will keep searching

Oh, of course!
When I go on vacation, I like to go without knowing what dates I'll be out, where precisely I want to go, how many people I'll be going with, or what price range I think I want to spend.
That makes it an adventure!
[/sarcasm]
Actually, the Chrysler T&C has the largest cargo space available (at least it was a few years ago) with quick and easy adaptability for passengers. Plus, with the stow and go seats, you never have to worry about where you left them. My work does a lot of hauling of both people and property, and that's what they went with.Quoth vacation_rentals_suck View Post"soccer moms" typically drive Volvos like you mentioned as well as any vehicle with off road capability even though they obviously dont need it (i.e. Expedition, Tahoe, Yukon, Hummer, Durango) and of course minivans of any kind although Dodge Caravans and Chrysler Town and Country seem to be a favorite of soccer moms.
They get the SUVs based on the perception they are safer. The additional interior room and higher vantage point are definite pluses. The higher center of gravity (which only goes up as you load the kids inside), however, is a huge negative.
Oooh... pretty, but not particularly family-friendly, as it were. I'm a big Chrysler/Dodge fan, and I recently had a Caliber for a rental car, and I really liked it.Quoth BethB View PostUgh!! I hate Hate HATE soccer moms. I vow to NEVER drive one of the above cars. the object of my affection right now is the Dodge Challenger.
However, another rental I had several years back was a Mazda, and damn if the interior of that car wasn't the best in terms of having all the storage/holders/stash points you could ever desire in a car. And, as a bonus, it was a much more powerful car than the heavy, whale-like sluggishness of the Mustang that I had the day before.
Oh, and my Volvo was the best car I ever owned. I still resent that idiot in the Ford Explorer who rammed into the back of it 'cause he couldn't be bothered to actually watch the road he was driving on.

Anyway, to get back on topic, who does that lady think she is, Miley Cyrus' Mom or something?!! VRS, I don't know how you do it without going apeshit on those SC's but I
you.

I find this amusing, and I suspect Dave did too, because I'm pretty sure in a previous post (or two... or five) he's been reamed out by customers for asking EXACTLY the questions this guest is reaming him out for NOT asking.
It seems these people are calling looking for an excuse to get upset, or already stressed and upsety and looking for someone to take it out on, and just happened to have picked Dave.
There are a lot of people who's idea of a vacation is that they go somewhere, and for a short time they are treated like THEY THINK rich people are treated. They spend thousands of dollars to go to a nice place... but because there aren't 32 servants waiting for them at the door, including an old guy named 'Willy' who lies down in front of any door they enter to be their doormat... and because all their needs aren't immediately and telepathically taken care of, they feel they aren't getting the 'luxury' vacation they deserve. Especially when it's slapped in their face that, despite being on vacation, they are still just ordinary people.

What is the web site for?
We rent at a different location each year in Mexico. They are all run by the same property company. We look at the website, we pick a place, put in the dates, see what is available, often look at the online 360 tour of the particular unit, plus the checklist of all the add ons and features, we might call to verify if a property has internet because often the websites are vague about that one point but other than that we can do everything online.
The people at the resort have enough to worry about without stupid people trying to book without knowing what they want.
Seriously. When I go on vacation I make a list, and book 99% of things myself.
If I want pampering I will go to a full service spa but heck I would book that online too!

"Seems to me like you're hoping I'll do all your son's math homework for him... you don't know when you want to go, how many beds you'll need, you want a specific property, which I can't tell you if you don't give me a narrower window of time to even see if that property is available..."Quoth vacation_rentals_suck View Postit sounds to me like you're just throwing out random properties without knowing or caring if I would like them
