  • some Christian you are

Guest: I sent an email to ask someone to please call the owner of one of your homes to see if my son could have his high school graduation party there

    Me: house parties arent allowed

Guest: well I know but I am asking you to call the owner to see if an exception can be made. These are Christian students so they wont be any trouble

Me: but we dont allow house parties

Guest: Dave, you've told me that twice now and now I am asking you for the third time if someone can call and get permission from the owner

    Me: no ma'am

Guest: Dave, you are about to piss me off. I dont see why its so hard to just pick up the phone and ask. If he says no, fine. I am only asking you to call him. Why cant you do that?

Me: because house parties are not allowed

Guest: I am almost at my boiling point with you. I am begging you to call the owner. Just make the call

    Me: ok hold on

I put her on hold and pretend to call the owner

Me: ma'am I am sorry but the owner said no

Guest: I dont believe you, Dave. I dont think you even called him. May I please have his phone number?

    Me: no ma'am

    Guest: why not?

Me: because we dont give that out

Guest: may I speak to your manager?

    Me: sure one moment

The answer was no.....and apparently this lady cussed the manager out and even took the Lord's name in vain

If I know anything about Christian students (and I do), they would be more trouble than anything is worth. Get a bunch of repressed kids just released from a stuffy environment, and they WILL act out.

Ugh, people like that make me almost ashamed that I share their faith. It's people like that that gives real Christians a bad rap among people who don't share our faith.

I know we are taught to turn the other cheek when someone offends us, but some people need to be culled from the population. Doing so would not only raise the collective intelligence of the world, but also removing embarrassments to the Christ himself.

It's really not the religion, it's the people that are idiots. But as with everything... the few spoil it for everyone.

I kind of figure it this way: We might use the same name for it, but they don't follow the same faith I do.

Why do so many people pull these cards (race, illness, religion, etc) and think that it somehow changes things? Do other people actually cave in and give them what they want after they claim that either the deserve more or are getting less solely because they are part of group X?

What part of "house parties are not allowed" does this lady not get?

Christian or not, the owner has already expressly forbidden house parties! This lady, her kid, and her kid's buddies are not special pweshus snowflakes. They have to follow the rules, or go someplace else that allows the house party they want so badly.

                These people are headache fuel.

EDIT: Okay, it's not the owner forbidding this, but still. Aarggggh.

Obviously this woman is living in a fantasy world and has never heard of the hanky panky that goes on at church camps. Christian teens are just as likely to break rules and cut up as any other teen.

Yep, Christian or not, all teens have the same hormones raging.

To be honest, that depends on the church denomination. Some are so bloody straight-laced that even after the kids are grown up and married, they won't engage in "hanky panky", but that's heading into Fratching territory, so I won't comment further.

Anyway, I wonder if this SC stopped to consider WHY they don't do house parties. I guess liability issues never even crossed her mind.

This one reminds me of my "Christians" from this post:
                        http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ad.php?t=11521

Point one: in my highschool no one actually dated the (male) PK's (pastor's kids) because they were the wildest of the bunch.

Point two, I can't be the only one to have lost her virginity at church camp* - anyone? ...Buller?

*I married him, but he was the lifeguard and wasn't even close to the same religion as the camp itself (Congregational camp / Mormon lifeguard).

i went to a religious-based private school for 3 years (my church helped pay the tuition)

i don't think the kids were any better behaved than kids in public schools... or had less naughty mouths.

it is possible they wanted to have a very calm, adult-supervised celebration and not a house party but... if that was the case just about anyplace would really work... their own home, a park, etc...

I guess I didn't write it out like I meant it. What I meant was that the individual teen is going to make his/her mind up whether to follow what was taught them - whether that is secular laws and social conduct rules or the morals and tenets of their particular faith.

Also, even if the kids are following the morals of their faith and there is no alcohol, “hanky panky” or other stuff going on, a large group of kids together for a party usually means one or two are going to have a sudden spark of energy or decide to become the “life” of the party and try something stupid like wrestling or jumping up and down to music or some physical stupidity such that they lose control of their balance and crash into furniture or windows or doors. A destination party usually brings out an exuberance that easily can lead to damages and noise even if the people were behaving in a moral and ethical manner.

The term "Christian" by itself does not mean "nice, quiet/sedate and well-behaved". Teens are still teens.

Anyway, I am getting out of this thread now.
