SP: Well I want one, I'm bored!
Me: We don't offer magazines on flights of this length (90 minutes )
Seriously, who gets on a plane WITHOUT bringing something to do? What was she expecting - live entertainment? Especially "in this economy" (boy how I hate that phrase), when airlines charge you for luggage and in many cases don't even feed you...yet they're going to provide you with personal entertainment?

I don't think I've ever boarded a plane with less than 3 books on hand (of different genres to fit my every mood), as well as some sort of music player, laptop, or at least headphones. Heck, I can fit all of that in my purse, so there's no excuse about not having room.

I say you should have offered the magazine to her...for $10. Or a generous $5 rental :P

      Wait, you're leaving the job?

Didn't you leave the profession once before, only to return to it? Just wondering.....
Leaving to inhabit a world far away from shift work, passengers, any of the general public. I am DONE with the 'glamorous' world of flying.

Have finally made my escape into the world of the public sector. Ah, the joys of office work.
      No longer a flight atttendant!

So, wait, now you're going to be sitting behind a desk all day?

Uh-oh. Take it from me... be VERY mindful of what you eat and drink at work, because sitting motionless behind that desk, you can pack on extra pounds like nobody's business if you aren't careful!

Not to mention that office work is actually one of the most stressful jobs there is, and stress leads to weight retention.

Er...this job is fab. I think being a flight attendant is stressful.

This involves flexi-time, no mandated office hours, 35 days annual leave. Have worked civil service before so know what it's like. I'll also be walking to and from work all day, so no chance of piling on the pounds.

How does one "read" a magazine that, by all appearances, is totally lacking in textual content? The last issue I looked at was 99.9999999999% ads.

I read those kind of magazines and some of them do have very interesting articles, mostly Marie Claire and Glamour but yeah, Vogue, those magazines are 100 pages too long with tall thin models staring back at me.

I also read lots of left-wing/current affairs magazines.
