  • sc logic is not earth logic

    sc=you know what that means
    me-

Here I am, on the third floor, with another librarian. I start roving to find people to help. I see one woman and said hello, made eye-contact. She says hello and passes me by. I start to walk away when she turns around and asks me a question:

    sc: Do you work here?
    me: yes.
    sc: where is the desk?
    me: desk?
    sc: desk.
me: you mean where the librarians are?
    sc: yes.
    me: well, I'm a librarian.
sc: but I want help from the desk.
so we are walking toward the desk. I get there with her sort of following me, looking around.
me: ok, here's the desk. How can I help you?
sc: *looking around* I don't want your help
    me:
    sc sees my cw
    sc: can you help me?
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

you offended her by making her life easy so that she couldn't have something to whine about...that's what you did...shame on you! don't you know you're SUPPOSED to make their lives difficult?!

I guess you just didn't look enough like a librarian for her.

I have the opposite problem ... I'm NOT a librarian, yet patrons continually come to the Circ Desk with reference questions. Then, when I point out the Ref Desk and send them there, they don't want to bother the poor, busy, overworked librarian, cause their nose is pressed to the PC monitor. Even though there are no patrons at the Ref Desk and the librarian is really only surfing the net, or reading email, or reading online manga, or something other than actual library work.

No ... they come to me to ask questions when I have a line of patrons with screaming children checking out piles of picture books, because they don't want to bother the busy, overworked librarian.

Yep, I'm disgruntled ... wanna fight about it?
