Commercial Sales is always so nice and quiet. Hardly any customers, and its almost stress free down there.... except for contractors who come in to our store.
We have many contractors who come into our store and many of them spend thousands. However, I am not always down in Commercial Sales, and I am not familiar with too many faces. Nor am I even going to try and make the effort because there's too many of them, and a lot of them only come in every once in awhile.
A lot of them complain about their stupid 10% discounts. When I tell them that our store policy is that they must first make a purchase of $500 or more to get 10% off, and they're not even spending a third of that, they start whining about how they "Spend a crapload of money in our store and should get their discount every time". Then I have to call a manager to deal with them, and the spineless cowards (the managers) will give it to them, even though its "store policy"
Yesterday I had this guy come up and demanded his 10% discount.
ME: Ok, sir, just to let you know, contractors must spend at least $500 or more to get 10% off.
I was told by managers to let everyone know this, and that I would not get into trouble because I am following store policy.
SC: I know that already! You give me a hard time every time I come in here!
He was really starting to aggravate me, and I already had a bad week from dealing with quite a few rude customers.
ME: Sir, let me tell you something.... I am just doing my job, and that is store policy.
SC: Are you a manager?!
ME: No, but I can get one for you if you want.
SC: Whatever.
He walked off, and I didn't have to see the asshole again.
By the way, to all you contractors out there, yes you are very important to our business. But no, you guys are most certainly not gods, and neither me nor any other employee should have to put up with yall's attitudes.
