HOW DARE the flight crew jump the security line!

It's not just airlines, actually. If you do a search, it comes up as general slang.

Yeah, we used it on the cruise ships all the time. Just rolls off the tongue easier than saying "passengers" each time.

I got huge glares when I flew when my son was 6 months old. I was traveling alone, had my carry on and diaper bag on one shoulder and my son on the opposite hip. Security waved me to the front and an extra woman came over to help hold my son while I was pulling out my laptop and getting checked out with the wand (super sensitive at YVR - the zipper of your jeans sets it off). Behind me I heard so many snide comments about why should I get to jump the line just because I have a baby. I dreaded going through that again when I flew a few weeks ago (when he was 10 months). Luckily there were only 3 people in line so I just waited, plus he can sit or stand now, so he was MUCH easier (I just plopped his butt on the table while I sorted out the laptop and they "wanded" me while I held him).

I feel for you. I flew all the time when I worked at sea and there were SO many SC's on every flight. To think, I used to want your job.

Last winter I saw a flight attendant patiently waiting for a hotel shuttle along with the masses. One particularly LOUD woman cussed FA (flight attendant) out because she dared board the shuttle first. Basically the woman was pissed because her husband boarded the shuttle and she didn't, because she was trying to load their massive luggage. And I'll be honest, one van wasn't going to hold the thirty-odd people standing there in the cold. And it was clear the next shuttle wouldn't be big enough either, since more people kept arriving. A lot of people were annoyed, but only this woman decided to be ticked off at FA. As a matter of fact, this witch had just as much reason to be angry at me (who boarded right after FA) and the next ten people after that. I mean c'mon, you could tell FA was tired. And that she'd heard it all before. FA didn't so much as flinch, let alone acknowledge the rant. She stayed quiet, calm and polite.

I secretly suspect a lot of flight attendants take up kickboxing. Because sometimes, you just have to beat the crap out of something.

I saw a new usage for PAX other day

I was on Navy Chat (yeah, they have that--PepperElf will know what I'm talking about) when a ship we were conducting flight ops with sent me: "(Our helo's number) strapped on deck for PAXFER." 'Strapped' meant it was held down on deck with chocks and chains, and since we use 'xfer' as shorthand for 'transfer,' I understood 'PAXFER' to mean 'Passenger Transfer.' First time I saw that used, but I'm going to use it myself from now on.

I've had that before...I did not stay calm and polite That's why I took my ID pass off straight as I left the terminal. I miss being nasty back to mean passengers like that!
