  • Move your bloody suitcase

Had a right pair of idiots on my flight today. They got on and the man pushed his suitcase into a locker. It clearly did not fit and was hanging over the side, ready to fall out. They tried to close the locker but it did not close and the bag wouldn't fit. So what did they do? They sat down and shrugged their shoulders!

I went straight up to them. "You need to move your bag right now as that could fall and injure someone."

    They shrugged at me.

"Look there is an empty locker opposite! Can you move it NOW please."

Then they wanted me to move it. Er no. Due to health and safety regulations we are forbidden from lifting passenger baggage.

The bag got moved. I was so mad. Why did they think they could leave their bag in a dangerous position in a locker that could not bloody close as their bag was too big!

    No longer a flight atttendant!

Ugh. That always makes me mad. They stuff their oversize carry-ons in the bin and when we disembark, they are the ones holding up the line, trying to get their stuff out.

My carry-on is always a purse or a small bag the size of a purse, to carry a book to read and a snack for the flight.

"But, but, our convenience is WAY more important than anyone ELSE!!!11!!one!"

That's why. Of course it's also possible that they are infact trying to get themselves killed for the betterment of society, but we're faster than them so here we are... inundated

I think some people are doing things like this, like taking larger than regulations allow bags onto planes because airlines are now charging an arm and a leg in the first place. Go figure.

Pity you can't just throw people like this off the plane.

I'll have to admit, the 2 times we traveled overseas, all of the competitors that traveled with us carried on their gearbags. They were at the maximum size for carry-on allowed and yes, a pain in the butt to lug around the airport, lug on board, but we stowed them ourselves and un-stowed them when we were deplaning. We also let our "neighbors" who weren't neccessarily traveling with us to move out of the seats and we waited until the last to get our stuff and get off the plane. There was a very good reason for all this trouble we went through--there was no way in HELL I was paying $4000 for a plane ticket and hotel (the tourney then had many other costs not covered by the flight and hotel payment) to only get to a foreign country and have all my son's or husband's sparring gear and uniform get lost in transit and not be able to compete. It happened once to the team and you can bet, the coach made sure it wasn't going to happen again. But again, we were the "nice ones" about it. I'm sorry you have passengers who feel so entitled that they think you are going to move their bags for them. We did have attendants who would come through and move bags around a bit to make it easier to close the bins but I don't recall any ever actually moving a bag from one bin to another.
