  • Jeez, mother of the year by the sounds of it

Today I was in the bathroom when a lady came in with her son who was about three or four years old. Here's what I heard:

Lady: "I am getting REAL sick of your attitude!!"
    Boy: "What?"
Lady: "What do you mean WHAT??!
    Boy: "Mama, lookit..."
Lady: "Let go of that NOW!!" (he was pulling down the diaper change table)
Boy: "I was just pulling it down..."
Lady: "You're really pissing me off!!"
    Me: *washing hands at sink*
Lady: *at hand dryers* "Get over here and dry your hands you little-"
    Boy: *looking scared*

After she left the bathroom I saw her walking across thes tore and the kid was trailing behind her, but she didn't seem too concerned about keeping an eye on him. Jeez, lady. I was verbally abused occasionally as a kid, and I can tell you that you remember all of it and it really sticks with you even years later. Settle down, lady.

If she behaves that way in public, how does she act at home?

I usually take comfort in the fact that when the "mother" is old and in need of nursing care, the child will check her into the nearest, cheapest nursing home where she will live out her remaining days pissing and shitting all over her bed sores.

Assuming the kid does not push back in his teens and kill her.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

That's one lady that doesn't know how to keep cool. I hate to say it but the kid is doomed to misery when he grows up. The good news is that the mother will probably die all alone one day in a nursing home with no friends by her side, let alone her son. And the nursing staff will be more than happy to get rid of her.

Anything like I plan, he won't even put her in a nursing home, since he'll have stopped talking to her LONG before.

IMO, he'll leave home as soon as he's old enough and not go back.

My parents used to pull me aside in public and say things ten times worse. Telling a kid that you're sick of his attitude is nothing. Try having a parent that told you you "weren't worth the money he spent on food to keep you alive." And that was when I was in my teens and could really remember every word.
Parents lose patience sometimes, and for all you know that kid was demanding every toy in the store for an hour before mom pulled him into the bathroom for a little discipline.
I wish my parents had stuck to that instead of the far worse things they did, and the hitting/kicking/beatings.
I don't really think she went all that far. A little too far, maybe, but a far cry from real abuse.
