Here's some shorts. The title has little to do with much at all...


I had just quoted a guest 99+tax for a room.
SC: Oh come on...*peers at my name tag* thehippieeee!
Me: ....
SC: Is that how it's pronounced?
Me: Yep, it sure is. ... (That's the rate sparky, take it or leave it. Saying my name for sympathy means very little.)
SC: ...
Me: ...
SC: Okay. Sounds good.

Gentleman walks in, hands me his member card.

SC: I am a *member* (not a high teir member either)
Me: Okay did you already have a reservation?
SC: No, see here is the thing. My daughter and I have a flight in the morning, and I was wondering if we could just hang out in your lobby until then (It's flipping 230am).
Me: Well, that is a new one by me. hmmm
SC: ...
Me: Usually only guests renting rooms are allowed to just hang out in the lobby...
SC: Okay so....
Me: I dunno.
SC: *grumpy* YES OR NO? (cleary he wasn't going to accept no)
Me: Well, I am not sure. I guess it would be fine. We don't tend to let people who just wonder in hang out in the hotel....but I guess if you were causing problems I could have ya leave then. So, why not.
SC: Okay, thanks!

Now this well dressed gent & his daughter are looking sleepy in the lobby....weird!

Wow, that was pretty ballsy of that guy! For security reasons my hotel could not have allowed that; we got drunk people that wandered in ocassionally and fell asleep in the lobby. Isn't that just too much of a safety issue to have 2-random people in your hotel in the middle of the night? What guarantee did you have they would actually STAY in the lobby? Would you have been able to watch them the entire time? Just tell them 'guests only' next time; it's for your safety too. Doing that was risky I think, sorry.
