  • But he’s been EMASCULATED!!!!!!

A young woman comes in dragging behind her a rather wimpy looking young man. She has a problem. He was at a party and was drinking a beer when the party was raided by our police force. He was issued a citation for being a minor in possession of alcohol. A big “no no” in this state.

He is eighteen. She is nineteen. They are married.

She is upset because “he is married, so he’s been emasculated” (her exact words). No amount of explanation that emancipation only allows a minor to make adult decisions regarding contracts and medical care, but does not have an effect on the drinking age can convince her otherwise. She argues. She gets really angry. He says less than ten words the whole time they are here. She decides to find someone else who will buy her theory and drags him off.

I think her use of the word was quite appropriate.

Looks like it's definitely true he's been emasculated, but emancipation wouldn't apply in this situation either considering the boy is 18, he's already a legal adult.

As far as I am aware, if she was 21 and wanted to go into a bar, he could have a soda there and sit in the bar if he had a copy of the marriage license on him. That's about the most he's going to get around here.

Ten bucks says he's back in your office just a few short years from now, claiming the same thing of his pretty little child bride too.
