the first time i was in the UAE... actually it didn't happen to me
but my shipmates reported that in some stores people refused to wait on them until a man spoke for them.

The reason my company now has credit card machines is actually because of a former employee here at my store. She had been stealing cards, ordering pizza on them, and then turning them in as lost the next day. I can't believe she didn't think she'd get caught. After turning in 5 cards management started to get suspicious. And pizza can be expensive. I know I'd notice if my card were short by even $10.

I've had people who when they have had their card declined would act as though I declined it personally. We always get blamed for EVERYTHING and it is so annoying.

As for the second story just don't serve him anymore. If he is that insistent that he should only be served by men then the next time it happens tell him when one of the male staff is next in and tell him to come back then.

As for the card declining, sometimes it can be due to a bad magnetic strip,not always because of lack of funds. That SC seriously needed a cranial-rectal extraction.

I tried typing in the number because I know when my parent's bank merged and they got their new cards, the magnetic strip didn't work at all. I suggested she call her bank and check her balance. No go. Since then I've had 2 more cards declined. Once in the restaurant I worked in this regular group of people came in and the guy who picked it up, his card was declined. We didn't know how to tell him cause like I said, they were regulars and we knew them. I nice group of people, a tennis club I think. Anyway, we came out and apparently we looked horrified cause he broke out laughing and said he knew it would be declined and he just wanted to see how we'd handle it. The girls in his group scolded him and we got an extra large tip that day. Yeah, but it's always awkward, and you feel sorry for the customer...until they turn into this woman.
