Well yeah that's why I like to wait at least a couple of years whenever a big-ticket electronic item comes out.

Can't help but wonder who was really stupid to pay 10 GRAND for an LCD TV, especially when they can now easily be had for only a few hundred dollars.

As is common knowledge now, the Playstation 3 price dropped last week. It's now only $299 and there's a newer, slimmer, version of the system available.

Unfortunately this hasn't exactly sat well with people who spent $399 on the console in the month and weeks leading up to the price drop.

I, my manager and my CWs have had it out with several customers who've been demanding $100 back from us because the price has dropped now and it's been less than 30 days since they bought it.
I'm surprised you haven't had people suddenly discovering that their console is "faulty" and asking for a refund

There is a brilliant quote either somewhere on the CS boards or over on NotAlwaysRight where a customer demanded the difference back in a similar situation. The cashier told them "so if the price had gone up $100, would you be in here offering to pay that?"
"When did you get a gold plated toilet?"
"We don't have a gold plated toilet"
"Oh dear, I think I just peed in your Tuba"

I like the car analogy to explain this one, but it doesn't really work for me. I can't get even a partial refund on a $0.00 purchase. (G'pa bought a used car for me as a gift several years ago.)

Actually....at least in the past....Best Buy honored the price drop on items, specifically the PS2 several years ago.
They still do as long as you're still within the return policy period.

I dunno if i can blame the customers if they bought it not too long ago. as many stores WILL refund you the difference. (and to be fair how many people really read the return policy?) However if this happened to me and i was told 'sorry against policy can't help you' i wouldn't freak out I'd just be like 'alright sorry no problem.'

But really, Technology prices always drop. Last year I bought a nice new big LCD tv. and not 2 months later it was a good $300 cheaper but whatever. I refer to your # 2. I chose to buy my tv when I bought it .

This is why I've been waiting for a game I REALLY want before buying a PS3. People want it as soon as they can get it then they complain about those of us who buy it 2 or 3 years later for a third of the price.
Telling a cop, "My taxes pay your salary!" is dumb.
Telling a cop you demand your shit without paying taxes is even more dumb.

Course the PS3 I have now I bought from someone else for cheaper anyway....
Yes, we still have the 30 day price match guarantee.

If I purchase a product like that right at launch, I do so knowing full well that the price will drop later.

Even as an Xbox 360 owner, I am of the opinion that the PS3 is a good machine. Certain games are tougher to find on the PS3, but most of the major software hits are multiplatform anyway.

It MUST be formatted as FAT32. The PS3 cannot even recognize the presence of an NTFS drive.
Interesting, though not totally surprising. NTFS is MS's File System format. (mind you, so was FAT and FAT32, but it got standardized.

LL: Just as a side note - I found this out the hard way. I spent several days re-downloading all of my videos and demos that I couldn't back up because it didn't occur to me to do my homework on that front. I was able to backup my saves to a Pro Duo card, however. Mea culpa, lesson learned ^_^

My one gripe is that PSN fails to do two very simple things that XBOX Live has done from the start:

                      - maintain a permanent history of the videos that you have downloaded (it only tracks paid items and demos)

                      - prevent you from re-downloading a duplicate of an existing video. It will allow them to coexist peacefully, even tho they go to the same folder.

One nice thing that they HAVE allegedly done is make it so the PS1/PS2 memory card adapter now works both ways. When it came out, you could only transfer saves TO the ps3, not FROM (onto a mem card). Apparently, this has now been fixed via a ps3 firmware update.

If they claimed it was faulty, they'd get a replacement unit not a refund.
