Oh, if somebody did that to me, SO would've ripped them to shreds. But I think the douchebag would more than likely shit in their pants from seeing his enormous size (6'10" 300+lbs.). Good on your friends for blacklisting and reporting the asshole for sexual harassment.
I have proof that in any such situation, my admirers will let me take the first swing.
^-.-^
Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden
Sorry, having one party just decide that the other party is in breach so that it can collect a $135k termination fee without doing any work -- yeah, right.
Nobody's going to pay a penalty of that size without there first being a lawsuit and a court ordering the payment.
Given the dollar amounts involved, this has to be dispute between two businesses. What will happen is, each party will bring in lawyers and a solution will be negotiated. The two sides probably want to continue to do business. The jerk may get fired. If not, he will probably have no further contact with female techs.
But I doubt anyone's going to be writing checks -- except to the lawyers.
I can just imagine this douchebag getting away with such behavoir (say at the grocery store) and managers allowing it (telling the female employees just ignore him...no, no files will be charged since he is a paying customers).
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.
Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.
Like I said, I'll keep anyone updated. They didn't do any work from what I know, but given that it's a choice between either the girl being in a hostile work environment or the contract being breached...
Something would've come out of this that wasn't pretty. Either it was a $135k payout, or the girl pressing charges for harassment (or the guy facing murder charges). She's one of two network managers, he's the other one.
One day this idiot will have this kind of attitude with the wrong person and will have to be operated in order to retrieve his teeth from his duodenum...
"I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question."
The douchebag has paid up, although he had late fees slapped on him twice
It's since become company policy that any pairs or teams are mixed gender and that for safety reasons, they do not go alone. (this was for unrelated reasons, not because of this)
There was way too much evidence against him, I'm guessing that most phone calls were recorded, plus there was the female tech's statement and the male tech's statement.
Wow, must be nice to have enough money that you can afford to be that big of a prick without putting up a struggle...
I'd love to see the whole story here; I'm guessing this guy has something of a history and an entire cabal of witnesses ready to drop the boom on him "Why yes, your honor, he is in fact a complete pig, why do you ask?" Still, I appreciate the secondhand nature of the anecdote and the karmic BRICK that landed on this guy's head.
You know, you almost feel sorry for him. If he's the boss, he's way out of pocket; if he isn't the boss, he's way out of a job. If I cost my company $135,000, I'd be on the street with a cup of pencils.

I always do my best to insist my team go out team-handed, I remeber Suzy Lamplugh going missing (http://www.suzylamplugh.org)
Sometimes, if we're shorthanded, they go out alone, but only if we've met the client before and reckon they will be well behaved (I still remember a site manager trying not to give me a hard hard to wear on his building site cos it might ruin my hairdo..) We ought to have a default rule that no-one goes to site on their own, but sometimes it's not possible. I'm working on it though.
This seems pretty out there. I'm guessing there were witnesses and proof beyond the person who was harrassed claiming to be harrassed? Seems like it would be easy to claim harrassment in order to get a big payout for the company.
While that guy is a creep and a douche, I think 135K is WAY too steep. I don't know much about contracts, but shouldn't being refused service (and perhaps a sexual harassment lawsuit) be enough?

Please promise me you will never be in charge of any business ever. If the two sides want to continue doing business then the side that was mistreated is foolish.
Your right it would be between two business and yes a fee of that amount would be paid. Your talking businesses that most likely spend that on office supplies.

Except by breaching the contract through indefensible behavior he is costing them business. In addition word travels it will be well known that this company stands behind their employees and will not let you mistreat them.

You're pretty much spot-on in both areas.
Like I said previously, Australian law runs a little differently-and so do values.
The company from what I know does stand behind their employees and treats them well. My friend has mentioned that he's had no problems with the boss so far, however his trainees....well, we call them Darwins now. (two were busted doing the horizontal salsa in a closet, one stole supplies, quite a few have wrecked the work cars-the most recent one was a Calais)
The idiot in question, according to the grapevine, has also had difficulties working with other companies as well, so my viewpoint is that the guy is a sexist pig.
