And because I forgot to add it in an earlier post, here is what (*) means:
"In SA, the minimum age for your Learner's permit is 16. It's valid for 2 years, but most people progress to their Provisional permit (meaning you can drive without needing a fully licensed driver, but you can't have drugs of any sort in your system and you can't go any faster than about 100km/h) after about 6 months, which is legal. Most Year 12's are 17, so it's not a surprise to see some of the carparks filled with students cars, who are on their P's. Most of them are fairly old clunkers.
