  • must remain on leash!

Guests come in, I was expecting some guests with a pet. We accept pets, although we aren't supsta have pets in our newly remodeled rooms...I digress. I love animals & could normally care less. But, some people fear dogs and most people are polite and keep their dogs on their leashes...not his lady!

SC's come in...and our lobby houses the breakfast bar area so it's vital that pets are not running around unless they are service dogs.

The front doors open, I go to greet the guests and am firstly greeted by thier dog...

The lady is at the desk with the leash in her hand...the dog is running free.

Me: I am sorry, we have to have dogs on thier leash while in the lobby (We aren't even supsta allow pets in the lobby at all!)
SC: Oh, that's okay...okay.... (Dog comes up to her, and the leash goes on.)
Me: And just to let you know, we also don't allow pets down in the breakfast area due to health regulations...
SC: That's fine. *to dog* hear that, honey, you can't have breakfast...

Guests are checked in, lady went outside quickly & guess what? Her dog is off it's leash again!!!!!!

Me: I am sorry, we do ask that pets stay in their leashes at all times.
SC: Okay. That's fine. (Then why aren't you caring!!!)
Me: It's a safety thing, and some people do fear dogs...so...
SC: *prolly sick of me repeating shit to her, but she's not listening* Fine.

I mean, honestly woman! I realize you know your pet, but other people don't. It so happens that sometimes, just sometimes, dogs get defensive for no reason. I am trying to prevent a lawsuit here. For you or for us because we obviously "let your dog run wild".

    I hate babysitting adults!!!!

And that's why I love our no pets policy.

We went pet free for about 2 years and our occupancy has dropped so bad our District Manager wishes to sell rooms, so we have gone back to allow pets as long as we have a vaid credit card on file.

The place I work is in a niche market. Victorian Hotel. We have about 50 % antique furniture and the place is registered with the national register of historic places and some other places as well. So That's how we get away with it. I think there's only 2 places in town that actually take pets and one of them I wouldn't let my pet stay at let alone stay there myself.

I always loved it, when delivering pizzas, when customers wouldn't restrain their huge-ass must-be-part-Clydesdale dog when I come to the door, especially if it was an excitable dog.

"Oh, he's a big softy, he won't hurt you."

Sorry, lady, but he could probably tow my car around if he wanted, I'm not going to just take your word for it. Especially not when doing so in the past got me bit for my troubles (and, no, "but he's never done that before!" does not make me feel better about having to get some stitches, thank you very much). Restrain your dog or you can drive your ass up to the store and pick it up yourself. You don't tip anyway, so I'm not losing much.

I would have expected that question from someone outside the US, but Ohio? lol Just giving you a hard time.

I'm one of those people who are afraid of dogs. So if I were in your situation, there's no way I could be calm and collected about it.

That's if you say "s'posed to." There's a whole section that says "supsta" precisely the way it's spelled.

It's too bad there's no leash laws for SC's.

I had a busybody of an old lady neighbor that thought owners were better than renters. There was a single mother renter down the hall who owned a golden retriever; sweet dog, lots of energy. The mother could be 100 feet away with her dog, and if the old bat came out of the building and saw the dog , she'd start screaming and flailing that the dog was 'rushing right at her!!!' She complained about that poor mother to the point the mother was in tears, wondering why the old bat hated her, and if she would have to get rid of her dog.
