But, every now and then...someone either gets towed, or gets their car messed with. Sorry, no sympathy from me about that.
Messing with a car (other than relocating it) is not cool.

I have no sympathy for the driver of said car, however.

      Slightly OT:

I read recently that UPS has broken some sort of record for most parking violations. The company pays for it apparently because they believe in getting stuff to you THAT FAST that ist worth it. o.o

I'm willing to bet that if you compared how much they pay in parking fines against how much they don't have to pay for their drivers to spend that much more time trying to find parking spaces that will fit their huge trucks, and the extra people they'd have to hire (and the extra trucks they'd need to drive) to cover the same number of deliveries and pick ups per day, they probably come out rather ahead.

I figured that FedEx would be the culprit on something like this. I've never had any reason to perceive UPS as "fast"...

Are you kidding? The UPS guys who deliver in my neighborhood are so fast, they deliver the packages before they even pull up to my door. (At 8 am they will mark my stuff as "Delivered: left on front porch", but the truck won't actually pull up and hand me the box until 1 or 2 pm! This happens almost every time.)

I've got one better. They once delivered a package to the people down the street that was meant for me -- made up numbers here, but something like dropping off a large expensive box (it was a PS3) at 578 Generic Street instead of 587 Generic Street. The only reason I ever saw the thing at all is because this is a small, close-knit neighborhood and the lady who lived there came by to let me know.

Technically, I could (legally) have said it was never delivered (it technically wasn't, under the law) and gotten a free system out of the deal if I really wanted to (it would have been on UPS), but I like to think that I'm not that sort of person, so I didn't

PS, it should also be noted that the UPS guy just left this honkin' big box on the lady's front porch in plain sight. I'm lucky it didn't get stolen.

I should hope you made a complaint. UPS really doesn't like it when their drivers do crap like that.

Actually, let the company that shipped it know so they could make the complaint. They listen a lot more to the shippers than they do to the receivers.

The manager at the center here informed me that *I* am not their customer, the company that paid for the shipping is their customer.

But wait, you say. Didn't I pay for shipping when I ordered my stuff? Why yes, says I, but as far as UPS here is concerned, the money came to them from the company shipping the item, not me.

I prefer my postal workers over any shipping company, hands down.

And that is why I said to complain to your vendor, and not your vendor's vendor. You don't sign the checks to UPS, so they don't have you in their file.

And besides, a complaint from a company that ships hundreds of packages every month is going to carry a whole lot more weight than one from a guy who receives a few of them a year.

Oh, I refuse to shop at Sears for that very reason... their delivery van will ALWAYS park in my space rather than in the visitor lot on the other side of the property... I have called their customer service number several times and one manager even told me that if parking in my space was so important I could just wait until the delivery is finished... never in my life have I felt so justified in going SC on a bad CSR.

In the apartment I used to live in the neighbors on my right side were great. We had an understanding about the spaces and borrowed each others all the time. The other neighbors were not so great. One thing about borrowing spaces was that you had to be in the area and leave contact info. There was an emergency once with my roommate and her mom parked in the bad neighbors spot to pick her up, less than 5 minutes later the tow truck was there. They kept parking in our spot though and we always gave warning. Finally one of them pulled around me and cut me off to pull in my spot. He went inside as if nothing had happened, so I had his car towed. I asked him never to park in my spot again. He got pissed cause it was ok for the other guys though? Yeah, they don't cut me off or park in my spot and leave with their friends so the only way I could have the car moved is to tow it. I think I had their car towed a total of 30 something times over the coarse of a year.

You know, I'd seriously consider parking that guy in and calling parking enforcement on him for that.

Totally unacceptable to park in an assigned space that didn't belong to you just because you're lazy.

Not me my friend. UPS and FedEx if it says must be signed for then at least in my area they will not just leave it; however the postman can see me standing next to my front door the door open obviously the person that lives there waving at him hoping oh god that today is the day my package arrives but he doesn't come up to me just waves back and puts my mail in the box. Oh well *sighs* guess I will eat then go get my mail.

Get down there and oh what's this a note in my mail box letting me know I have a package but I wasn't home to receive it? Shocking should I use my invisbility to fight crime or girls locker room?
