Because of the windy weather today, there was interference at the call box at the exit gate, & so the customer kept on saying she could not hear me. I had to repeat myself a couple of times. Plus guests here for reserved events received tokens that would not work. This customer arrived after the events ended & while I was away at the restroom. I have to call the Parking office when I am leaving the Visitor parking booth for a break.
The phone inside the booth rings. I look up, & there is a car at the exit gate.
Me: "Visitor Parking booth. How may I help you?"
female customer: "Hey...I put my token in the slot, & the gate would not go up."
Me: "Were you here for a specific event?"
female customer: "I dropped off some paperwork at Admissions"
Me: "Can you press the yellow button to see if the token drops down because the only way I am allowed to raise the gate is if you have the token in your hand"
*female customer backs up & gets closer to the yellow button & presses it*
female customer: "No, it did not drop down"
Me: "Unfortunately, you will have to go the parking office because they are over the gates"
female customer: "You are breaking up. I cannot hear you"
Me: "Unfortunately, if the gate will not go up, you will have to go to the Parking office"
female: "So what do you want me to do?"
Me: *ok, I will go over this again*
"Did you put the token in the slot so the gate will go up?"
female: "Well...when I came here the gates to the booth were up"
Me: "Did you pay for your parking?"
female: "I cannot hear you. You are breaking up"
Me: "Did you pay the $5.00 to exit the garage?"
female: "No, where do you pay at?"
*I tell her where to pay at*
female: "Can I please speak to management. This setup is crazy"
I transfer her to the Parking office. "Nancy" answers the phone. I tell her the customer at the exit gate to Visitor Parking wants to speak to management at the Parking office. I see her speak to the call box & then she backs up. "Nancy" calls me a couple of minutes later to see if she backed up. I told her she did as well as the fact that I asked her questions to figure out what was going on when she told me her token would not work & that was when I figured she did not pay. "Nancy" told me she gave her a "story" which she did not believe, & she told the female customer she has to pay for her parking.
