I worked for a company that had a program for kids clothes and shoes; there were two benefits to the program.
1.) For every $100 spent on kids clothes/shoes you got a 15% discount coupon to use on a future purchase.
(And the one that made my work-life a living hell!)
2.) Every article purchased was guaranteed. If it ripped, tore, had a broken zipper, a hole, ANYTHING, the item could be returned and replaced with the exact same item for FREE.
So, when was this a problem?
When people wanted to bring back a winter coat with a broken zipper in JUNE when we didn't have them in stock... because it was JUNE!
Or when they bought the item from the clearance rack so we had none left so they got all huffy about it.
But my favorite was a woman who would come in 10 minutes before closing time to exchange UNDERWEAR (complete with skid marks!)... Ugh!
Look, I get the sense that kids cost a lot of money, but come on! Buy them some new underwear for Pete's sake! To me, this was just the epidomy of cheap.
