EW: "Excuse me. EXCUSE ME!!! I NEED HELP OVER HERE!!!"

EW: "How much is this ring at the sale price???"

EW: "Can I see this necklace???"

I don't know what it is about the jewelry counter and the EWs it attracts but it seems no one is capable of waiting for me to finish helping one customer before giving them assistance. It happens every day, several times a day. It's one of the many reasons I hate working the jewelry counter.

What is it with these people anyway?

I wonder if it would help to have a 'take a number' system at jewelry like there is at the deli counter? People seem to understand that if the deli person is slicing meat for a customer that they must wait until he/she is finished before they will be helped. But if I'm changing a battery for someone, ringing up a sale or showing rings to a customer it must appear to other EWs that I'm doing nothing and should hop on over to help their ass immediately.

Sure wish our jewelry dept would be phased out like it has been in other stores in our chain.

I'm adding that to my wish list for Santa.

I can only speak for the swamp, but the markup on our jewelry is astronomical. Which is par for the course for jewelry anyway.

I think that's going to prevent jewelry from ever going away here.

That would be one of the things which I do NOT miss about working at Macy's, although for us, that mostly seemed to happen while working at the watch counter. (and usually when I was in the middle of resizing a watch)

However, it would also send the message to the EWs of the world that they have to...wait their turn!

So we can't do it. Sorry.
