We have a family here, a very extended family (they are considered modern-day "gypsies" I guess) that has been black listed from renting from our hotels' rooms. They are red flagged through central reservations as well. They have tried multiple times to check in, but luckily I am one of the few people left who know they are black-listed. They are fully aware of it themselves.

They were banned because they took advantage of the hotel. They were indeed true scam artists. Rented day by day only paying cash. They asked for help with tons of things very often. Forced the desk to do their laungry for awhile. And to top it off made the claim their kids were being bitten by bugs only for we the hotel to find out they introduced bed bugs into our hotel. The clean up cost $2,000-$5,000 every couple of weeks for 4 months to rid of them. We hadn't had them before & haven't had them since. They stayed upwards of nearly two months solid & would not let housekeeping into their destroyed rooms. They would rent two rooms at a time & there were at least 6 people to a room, possibly more.
I would NOT be surprised at all if you worked at the same hotel chain as my brother. Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if you said you worked at the same hotel, but since I don't think you're from Denver, it's not likely, and I think he works at the "and Suites" of his chain. You'll have to PM me to see if I'm correct.

Anyways, he calls me one night while we were both on audit at our respective hotels. He said he had a family with the same description you just gave barge into their kitchen to grab snacks. My brother was so pissed at this that he charged them the "correct" rate of such a large group staying in one room, and added the note to the reservation to cover his ass.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

been hoping to see him pop up on stargate universe
His last Stargate appearance was in Stargate: Continuum. Altho, IMDB does have a listing for the Children of The Gods: Final Cut (they remastered the first episode to remove the nudity, swearing, and fix a continuity issue) as his last SG appearance...CoTG was really his first appearance on SG-1.

Oh mygosh...I'm a nerd. I'm an Stargate fanatic...(says the girl watching Stargate Atlantis on her laptop while posting this...I got the box set of SGA for Xmas...)

I think they referenced him in Stargate Universe...they named a ship the Hammond (that was mentioned in one of the two, or both, of the SG1 straight-to-dvd movies) Commanded by Sam Carter in SGU... ohmygoshIAManerd

btw, SGU sucks as a Stargate show. It's StarBattle GalacticVerse..but that's my personal opinion...I'm trying to watch it with an open mind...trying being the operative word.

Actually they first said they'd name the ship after him in a SGA episode.

And I love SGU so far, but that's also my opinion.

I am not sure what thier ethnic background is. They are a tan rather rotund people... Not that it matters anymore.

All's I know is they have the bad persona of what people call "gypsies" Kinda like the Cher song ..."tramps & thieves"...blaa blaa. They family sucks, and the fact that it's an extrended large family makes it more difficult, too.

The geek in me approves of this post.

But not SC's using the name of a great man who is no longer among the living....

            Seriously.

Now you gotta start looking these folks' check-in names to see who else they try to impersonate!

I've been trying to decide what I think about it. It's not as family friendly as most of SG1 and SGA was, minus CotG in SG1...and is definitely more BSG than SG...I dunno. I've decided I'll give it a full season before I decide whether to keep watching...

Regardless, it's families like that that make staying in hotels miserable. As someone who had a (then girlfriend) in another state and loves traveling, hotels are the few things that really annoy me, especially when I get put below big foot, or on the same floor as "parents" (term used very loosely) who let kids run up and down the halls screaming their heads off at 4 AM when I have a 7 AM flight the next day...or people who bring their millions of buddies (bed bugs, fleas, whatever else) with them for their vacation. Makes me want to just drive everywhere and stay in my car at night.

My company has a "family" like that that will come to our location to try to sell us stuff.

There are usually between 5 & 15 of them who show up in some ratty trucks filled to bursting with mostly-junk.

We bought one box from then a few years back, and while stocking the product, found a count tag from our company in it. We can't be certain, but we think they had their kids steal it from the back of the building on an earlier visit, and it was dumb luck that we were the people who bought it.

We keep an eye on them and don't let them wander around any more. For some reason, after we started doing that, they stopped bringing the whole clan, too....

I guess I'm the pretty much the only one here that has no clue about Don S. and General Hammond. But using a dead person's name is just incredibly wrong to me. I guess the family that scams together gets banned together.

Wow... I feel so out of touch now. I didn't know Don S. Davis died and Stargate was my favorite show until the Farscape actors invaded it.

I've had celebrity names pop up but none of them were scams as far as I could tell.

I had one woman whose last name was Paquin. She claimed to be related to True Blood's Anna Paquin. Could be, who knows?

Sandra Bullock's sister owned a bakery in my state's capital so anything's possible.

I'd assume the first, judging by behaviour. (most Romany I've met are generally friendly)
Not the ones that I've met... but then I was dating one and his parents didn't approved with him dating a Gaje! Though toward the end, before we broke up, his mom offered to teach me the language and also how to swindle people in her fortune-telling business... and yes, I'm being serious.

Interesting culture, but I'm happier being a gaje.
