Yesterday, I was about to ring up an off duty employee when a customer came up and complained that he was overcharged. It turned out that the savings card wasn't used so I took care of that. Another customer wanted a lottery ticket so I got him one and he put his money down. The 1st customer complained that I gave him too much back and it turned out that I mixed his money with the lottery customer's money.
The customer lectured me about slowing down even though he did cut in line. I also needed to take care of a couple other tasks as soon as possible. One checker needed the lowest denomination on gas cards since she was completely out and she also needed a receipt copy since the other checker bought something for her and she needed a copy. My service desk coworker got the gas cards and I pulled up a copy of the receipt in the computer since the key wouldn't turn in the register.
The off duty employee told me that I was doing a great job by doing my job quickly. She told me not to listen to those who say otherwise.
