  • It's fast food, but I CAN tell the difference between a shake & a soda

I'm sooo glad I only work there 8 or 9 hours a week. At the tail end of lunch today I was alone up front after CW went home. Fine, no big deal. Had an order including a shake and a line was forming. Usually I'd make it, but I skipped it, intending to get someone else to make it in a minute. An old couple next ordered 2 sandwhiches & 2 sodas. As the man was getting his $, I called out to someone to make a shake for me. The old woman asked me if I'd interpreted her drink as a shake. Um, no, I do know what I'm doing, and I wasn't talking to you.

Ugh, customers that assume you are as dumb as they are drive me off the wall.

Yep, it's annoying. And yep, I've had employees who really are that stupid. Which means I'd probably ask if I was rung up for a soda or a shake.

I might have asked the same question; no harm in making sure I was heard right, as long as I wasn't sucky about it.

I probably would have too... again just to make sure.

This would be the important part. I think we can assume there was at least some nasty attitude involved, or it wouldn't have irked Food Lady so.

That said, we don't really need an enumeration of everyone on the board who also would have confirmed their order in this situation.

Now that I'm a few days away, I realize she wasn't nasty at all. I think I am just irritated that the prevailing thought is that I and the other staff are not too bright.

It's probably more from our collective experiences in having orders messed up (for whatever reasons). From the lady's point of view, she just ordered a pop, and the cashier turned around and asked for a shake to be made; it would certainly make most of us pause and double check that the order is correct.

I see that now. I was filtering through all the negative experiences I've had at work lately (although they've mostly been at the other job.) I think I may need to stop working lunches; that's when the seniors come in & I seem to have issues with them, mostly on my part.
