'Stolen' Car Saga

But it did not stop there! SHE PARKED HER CAR OUTSIDE OF STORE A, DAMMIT!!! So she then accused security of stealing her keys and moving her car!!!! For what reason we would do this I don't know, and have no clue how we would have snuck the keys back to her afterwards!

Are you sure you guys get a bunch of people to pick it up and move it?

I'm joking, of course, although back in my college days, about six of us did do something like that to a VW Beetle that someone parked in the school parking lot overnight. We didn't actually move it, we just turned it around so it was facing the other direction, just to screw with the owner's head. That is, if he even noticed.

Back on topic, back when my grandma was still working (late 80s or early 90s), one of her customers came running into the store, freaking about her car being stolen. They called the police, who came out and started making a report. As they were finishing up, the customer said, "Oh, I just remembered! I drove my husband's car here!"

From what my grandma told me, the police were not amused.

Once one of our rookie tow truck drivers towed a car that he shouldn't have, (had a permit for the lot, but he missed it) and dispatch told him to take it back to where he towed it from. Naturally, the spot it was parked in was now occupied by a different vehicle, so he was forced to place it in the next open spot which was 9 spots down and one row over....

Nobody ever called us, or the police, but I do feel bad on the inside for that poor poor person who concievably spent days trying to convince themselves or others that THAT'S NOT WHERE I PARKED! To which the response would naturally be "sure, sure, someone just came and MOVED it! Har har!

i remember going to a market with my mom once like, 10 years ago. lol it took us a good 30 minutes to find the car. then we realized that the parkinglot had been split into "sections" named after the state's counties. never lost the car again. well, in that lot anyway.

that happened to me at work, but without the drama.

i normally parked in one lot but forgot that i had parked in a different lot. when i went outside and didn't see my car there i thought "!! OMG I've been towed!" (didn't think stolen, cos it was on base).

Then I remembered... "Oh yeah, I parked in the other lot, hah."

Ugh. A certain Hechinger's *manager* did something like that once. He drove over to one of the fast-food joints, and then walked back to the store. 5:00 rolls around, he leaves to drive home...and not even a minute later, came running back into the store, screaming that his car had been stolen That idiot called the cops, who eventually found his car sitting exactly where he left it...still in the restaurant's parking lot.

By the time I heard about it, the entire store, including the cops...were having a huge laugh at his expense. Way to make yourself look like a dipshit, and lose all respect (what little there was) of your employees

My aunt has done the same thing, but she didn't accuse somebody of moving her car. She went to the mall and when she went to leave she couldn't find her car. Security was called and they asked her if she was sure she parked the car there, she insisted she parked it there, they offered to drive her around the parking lot to find it, she refused and demanded the police. Police showed up and also asked if she was sure if she parked there and offered to drive her around the lot to look for the car. She refused to look elsewhere for the car and demanded to fill out a police report. She did and then waited a few hours for my uncle to come pick her up.

Some time in the middle of the night, they got a call from the police - they found her car. It was sitting all alone in the middle of the mall's parking lot, exactly where she said that she most certainly did not park her car.

Jesus Murphy. Sounds like she has issues. She was probably so damned embarrassed by her own stupidity the only way she knew how to deal with it was to become unbelievable unreasonable.

I was informed of this after the fact, but apparently, we had a lady reporting that her car had been stolen. This has never actually happened (they've always parked in a different lot), so armed with a description security looked around for her car. She swore she parked outside of Store A, and we found her car outside Store X on the other side of the mall. But she didn't believe us! She swore that couldn't be her car because she parked outside of Store A! Never mind the plate matched, there was the same bumper sticker, figure in the window, etc. IT WAS NOT HER CAR!!! She refused to even go try her key in it. Finally she called her husband who checked the car and flat our told her "Honey, it's your car, just get in!"

But it did not stop there! SHE PARKED HER CAR OUTSIDE OF STORE A, DAMMIT!!! So she then accused security of stealing her keys and moving her car!!!! For what reason we would do this I don't know, and have no clue how we would have snuck the keys back to her afterwards!

Unfortunately, I don't know how she was finally convinced to leave.
