Eggs have hard shells too - I'm surprised that in her lifetime she hasn't encountered even one egg that went bad.

BTW, I took a look at the archived page about the exploding tube of rotten ground beef, and the funniest part of it was the banner ads put there by the archiving company (OT - they're selling advertising on CS content - isn't that a copyright issue?). Their "find relevant topics" parser must not be set up to handle the literal meaning, because the ads are for things like the "blue pill", porn, and "no strings hookup for casual sex" sites.

Eggs take a lot more time to go bad than a coconut does. If you store them in a cool place 4 months isn't unreasonable for them to last.
