Long time since I've been on here, but the past couple of weeks have sent me back to remind myself I don't get the worst
And just as a reminder (ok, I know I need to tell you all again) I work in a stationary and books store part time on the weekends, I spend most of my time in the stationary department.
Excuse me...
Minding my own business, serving a young gentleman, ok a male in about mid-teens. Can't remember exactly what he was buying when this female walked up right beside him and started...
SC: Excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me (not being excessive here, and I'm not forgetting the commas!)
Me: *Ignores SC and continues serving other customer*
SC: Excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me excuse me
Me: *Finally give up listening to the incessant "excuse me" and look at her"
SC: That gentleman (a customer I had just served) put a card in his bag and left
Me: I know, I just served him
Yes, I understand that if he had just shoplifted it would have been nice to have been told, but there was nothing I could really do, at the time I was sole charge (In the case of my store our books and stationary departments are in two separate locations in the mall) of my store, the gentleman had already left, I couldn't call for help, and it was $5 greeting card, I wasn't really ready to chase after him if he had shoplifted. Oh, and I feel sorry for the customer I was serving, it looked like she was his mum.
Excuse me but...
Again serving a customer, in fact I was near the end of serving them, all they had to do was sign for their credit card
Up walks SC straight to my register
SC: Excuse me but do you have any wrapping ribbon
Me: *Holds finger up in a 'wait there' position* Be there in two sec's
SC: *walks haughtily out of the store*
So, since when did my job become "drop-everything-you-are-doing-to-help-one-customer-who-hasn't-bothered-to-look-around-the-store-for-herself"? I can understand not looking if I'm not in the middle of serving a customer, but when you can see I am serving someone and it would take all of 20 seconds to have a quick look around the store for yourself (by which stage if you hadn't found said product I would have been free), I really don't care if you walk out and don't back
