  • I Can't Believe You Just Did That...And That...And WTF.

I work in a small grocery store, no conveyor belt, no scanner, no baggers. I had just finished unloading a cart of groceries. I left the cart where it was, planning on returning it later.

The next lady in line stunned me when she literally dropped an armload of groceries into the empty cart. I am a little miffed I am pretty short and the carts are big meaning I have to lean over to get stuff out.

As I am ringing her up another customers comes up with a basket and literally dumps everything from the basket into the cart. He also rests the now empty basket on the child seat. I am fuming right now how hard is it to carry your own stuff?

That's when a woman joins the line and tosses her 35 cent, teeny little pack of Wrigley's gum into the cart. She has the audacity to giggle as I stretch to reach for it. It's mind boggling I have left grocery carts there before and never has that happened. Three times in one day, that may be a new record.

It's sad how many people confused shopping carts wih trash cans or dump bins.

The first two may not have even realized they were making your job hard; maybe just had tired arms. But the gum lady was treating you as a plaything. The giggling tells me it was purposeful.

As soon as that giggle happened, I would've stopped stretching, straightened and stared at her. Then continued to stare until she got uncomfortable and then stopped when she either walked away or reached into the basket herself.
