I had a friend whose home number was the same as a takeaway restaurant, apart from two transposed digits.

While I was round there one night his phone rang - his side of the conversation

I get a lot of calls for Wallie World our numbers are only off by one digit. I am always amazed at how many people don't believe me when I tell them that I'm not a store.

Wonder if he dialed from a cell phone, I know mine doesn't have numbers to each letter. (go full QWERTY!) but still, if you've been told its not the right number, try again oi.

I don't know what type of phone you use, but at least LG phones if you dial the letter the phone will automatically dial the corresponding number.

Yeah, TTY is a TeleTYpe machine, it is actually borrowed technology from the military (it's a variation of how they used to send messages to submarines since it allowed for easier coding than verbal communication)
Now, you could theoretically use a TTY machine to connect with a relay operator to interpret, but if you see a number listed as a TTY number it is a direct TTY to TTY connection... and most relay companies have shied away from TTY because the technology is so slow and out of date now.
