  • A stroke and No more cell phones (Maybe kinda long..)

Yesterday I got called at home by the guys at work. They told me that our boss wanted to know if me and the other guy I was working with from 10pm to 7am could do the count/paper work for the order to be called in today. I told them we could. I was then told our bosses dad(BD) had a stroke that morning and bosses dad would not be in with the boss in the morning to help do it.

Now we all butt heads with BD now and then but when all is well he is an ok guy. The guy is 80 years old so he is set in his ways and thinks stuff should go how it did when he owned the place.

Now we are all feeling down over him having a stroke. He is 80 and gets around better than me. He is being kept in the hospital, he has some bleeding on his brain and limited use of his one arm. Our boss goes to his dads every morning and he arrived just as it was happening so he got him to the hospital fast. He has to have an MRI every 12 hours to see how the bleeding is doing and has a 90% chance of regaining most of his arm movement back.

The 3rd person I waited on was on her cell phone, I HATE THIS!#@!, and told me she wanted White Owl White Grape and pointed towards the boxes of blunts. I gab a box and she flips out and yells I SAID WHITE OWL WHITE GRAPE CIGARILLOS!!!

I lost it and tossed the pack of blunts and grabbed the ones she wanted and told her the next time she comes in and is on a cell phone I will ignore her until she is done. She yells she said cigarillos and my co-worker told her he didn't hear her say that. She paid and stormed out.

Last night I was thinking about going to where she works (she was wearing a employee shirt for a local restaurant) and ordering while on a cell phone then when she brought out the food I would yell that I did not order that to see hoe SHE liked it. But I have calmed down since.

I told my boss this morning what happened and told him that now on if they are to rude to hang up or they answer a cell when I am waiting on them that I am just walking away or asking the next person in line what they need. He just laughed and I didn't get told I couldn't do that so I am.

So new rule for me is... If the cell is in use or becomes in use then you wait. Oh and you know that thing called ID? Yeah the one I stopped asking you for months/years ago because you are a regular... well I need to see it. Yes dig it out of your purse/wallet, goto the car and get it, whatever, I NEED to see it again. Yes you will need it every time you come in until I forget why I am asking you for it or you look over 30.

Most of them do not want the police talking to them. So all I do is tell then to leave and pick up the phone and they leave. They don't want the poolice to smell the weed smell coming off them or to see the weed in their pocket or car. LOL

 I'm so an idiot... I meant 'customers don't need to piss you off'. You have the power, VenomX. I was actually cheering over the thought of you making regulars show their ID, or refusing service if they are on their phones.

I swear, I've written so many 'polite, politically correct' emails in that last two days, I can't even think straight anymore. Nothing like double-speak jargon to totally confuse your brain and your writing.

It always befuddled me at the gas station, when I'd see people in work uniforms come in (for restaurants or fast food or wherever), and to see them go SC on me really made my heart ache. I couldn't believe someone who also went through customer bullshit all day would turn around and do it to someone else of their own kind.

I thought we were all in it together. I guess not.

The ones that really hurt the worst were the people from other gas stations/convenience stores who would throw hissy fits over showing ID or would come in at rush times and try to throw money at me for gas to avoid standing in line.

It always confused me when my parents, who insisted that I should get a retail job*, would get upset with the retail associates about things. Yes, it's stupid, but you can't yell at the girl behind the desk because the signs that corporate gave them are completely messed up. (Not yelling per se, but clearly expecting some sort of explanation for why they signs would claim they had skirts when the store didn't stock any, that sort of thing).

*I stand by my insistence that I would be horrible in retail. This is based off the 5 or 6 times that I got called up to the counter when I worked in the doughnut place. And, despite what my parents thought, it's not that I think I'm too good for retail. It's that I really don't want to end up killing anyone.
