    New classes means new headaches.....

    Assignments

    Dear Miss Fatale,

I have turned in my work for Week 2, but it's not showing up in the grade book. What's going on?

    --Students

    Dear Student,

Since it is still Week 2, the work has not been graded yet. It will be graded by X date.

    Dear Miss Fatale,

Why did you tell me I didn't answer all of the questions in week 1? Week 1 should be easy!

    --Student

    Dear Student,

It is the student's responsibility to make sure all questions are answered.

    --Miss Fatale

    Dear Miss Fatale,

Did I answer all of the questions this week?

    --Student

    Dear Student,

The answer seems fine. However, it is your responsibility to answer all questions. I only grade once; I do not accept re-dos [true for little assignments, not true for essays].

    --Miss Fatale

    Dear Miss Fatale,

Oh, I see! Thanks for letting me know. I'm really going to pay attention now!

That truly is the definition of fail.

Perhaps your next lesson should be on "Getting the point of an essay."

Wow. See I uh... Do all homework when I get home. Then its done. then I can study what I want. Some assignments take hours up hours, so I just spread them through x amount of days, then do it that many hours per day to do it.

          What grade you teach?

Maybe it's just a matter of you writing the word "essay" and the students seeing the word "easy".

No way? Maybe understood if it was 100 or 300 (100, still getting used to it, 300, I've been here long enough I know exactly how to play the system).

I'm taking 2 online classes right now. One is going great to the point that I actually meet up with the teacher to discuss the class. The other teacher is awful. She doesn't get back to you in a reasonable amount of time (I'm talking weeks without answering e-mails which is fine once, but this is a constant problem.) She also just told us that she was canceling our 20 page paper. The paper is due tomorrow. I finished the freaking paper 2 weeks ago!!!!!!!! Only the procrastinators are being rewarded. I can understand if she just realized she doesn't have time to grade it, but she should have just collected it and then gave full credit to people who got it in on time regardless of quality, and given no credit to anyone who didn't turn it in.

Teachers like that bug me. I had one last year that drove me crazy. She was vague, didn't respond to questions, and after a classmate phoned me one day, I knew I wasn't the only one feeling that way. Couldn't wait to be done with her class. I think the hubby was feeling the same way after having to listen to me rant every week. So eventually that class ends and the next one gets ready to start and guess who the teacher is for that class? Poor hubby, had to listen to my tirade for two days and because he worked for that school, he went in and changed my class. He was just trying to keep peace in the family, lol. I had already seen the class list before the switch, and when class started, I saw some of those same names in the new class. During the second week of class, we got a bunch more people transferred over because their class had been closed. Either too many people asked to be switched or the school received too many complaints about this "teacher."
